Sad this evening. It’s politics I think. At times I read replies to perfectly clear posts and these replies are thickets of confusion, fragmented, paranoid, full of villainies as Hamlet says. Especially on the right I must say. The absence of ethics & love of cruelty get me down.

Today is John Montague’s birthday. He was (is and always will be) a great poet. And my husband and sweetheart.

Did you know ‘La Cote d’Azur’ refers not to the sea but the sky? The purity & depth of this blue! Chilly & bright today.

Christmas in Perpignan with Hugo & the ever-pampered Sophie. Perp a marvellous mingling of French & Catalan. Streets with lovely literary names. And the wine!

John Montague, my great poet husband, died on this day in 2016. He wrote magnificent verse, but also had the world’s most glimmering smile. He is my heart. And his bio is out! A Poet’s Life by Adrian Frazier. Lilliput Press.
