My car doesn't have a spare tire - it has a repair kit, with an air pump & can of sealant. I used it last weekend, and now I have to replace the can of sealant.

It's $80+, and only available on ebay. Oh, and without the canister the air pump can't even be a pump.

Why is everything dumb.

the University of Virginia Library's statement on Archives and AI is strong and clear, recognizing the utility of AI without being blind boosterism. I wish the world had more of this approach.

The new policy prohibits students from recording class without permission but explicitly allows administrators to surveil professors for any “lawful purpose.” https://bit.ly/3MyingR

Yesterday, someone made a Dungeons & Dragons analogy for vaccines in our (Facebook) comments. I don't play or understand D&D, so I asked our Preparedness Coordinator to explain. I still don’t understand it, but he said this analogy will be understood by people who do! Anyway, please get vaccinated.

If you live in Durham please check out this post to see if you’ve been exposed to the fucking measles.
An individual with measles visited 3 Durham locations on February 6. Learn more here: dconc.gov/DurhamCo-New.... If you were in one of these locations during the affected time frames, get vaccinated if you are unvaccinated, monitor your symptoms for 21 days, & call your doctor symptoms develop.

On Polymarket you can now bet on how many people in a different market on Polymarket think Jesus Christ will return in this calendar year.

29% of bets say that more than 5% of bets in the Jesus Christ return market will be a "yes" 9 days from now.

Anyway everyone involved in this needs jailtime.

Claude's super bowl commercials make me sad. They say ads ruin the experience? How about the cloying, patronizing, and useless nature at the core of the interaction. They crap all over the whole experience, then tell us we need it.
