I know we're all operating at breakneck news cycle speeds these days but I'm literally BEGGING newsletter writers to get ANYONE to read their piece before hitting send. The errors, my god the ERRORS. The missing words alone haunt me.

Kinda feel like that's the plan, to sow chaos and do crazy shit while everyone's distracted just trying to survive

There is not NEARLY enough discussion around the very real possibility it will be the collapse of insurance markets that brings us down.

They survived the hurricane. Their insurance company didn't.
Hurricane Ida revealed a fragile insurance industry ill-prepared for the consequences of climate change. More than four years later, what's changed?

DON'T DO IT @wyden.senate.gov @merkley.senate.gov!!! The GOP are committing political suicide, LET THEM SINK.
I'm hearing the same thing. Dems are nearing a surrender. I'm shocked. Largest protest in history + best election night in years + polling showing we're kicking their ass in public opinion. And now Dems may cave.

It ain't over til it's over, so please do call if you've got a Dem senator.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

What freaks me out is that they're doing shit they KNOW will get them hammered in the midterms which makes it pretty clear they fully intend to rig them or just straight up not have them. America, we need an emergency toolkit and we need to place it by the front door right now.

The question is have we become monsters or were we really this monstrous all along?
Every day at noon, no matter how busy, Johny Merida Aguilar left his construction job and hurried to his 5-year-old son's school to feed him. His son has brain cancer and generally only accepts food from his father.

Merida Aguilar was arrested by ICE in September and faces deportation to Bolivia.
He was caring for his 5-year-old son with brain cancer. Then he was detained by ICE.
A court has temporarily blocked Johny Merida Aguilar's deportation to Bolivia.

Pure fucking evil
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

Not nearly enough people are talking about this, even in the climate space.
Biofuels are a bad climate solution and a huge waste of land, food and millions in subsidies. Burning crops for fuel only pushes us further away from our climate goals.

But biofuel production is only growing across the planet.

Bloomberg research found wholesale electricity up ~270% in areas near data centers

It doesn't seem like nearly enough people are taking it seriously

One A.I. image isn't too much energy, but 5 million videos? Per day/hour/minute whatever. It's not sustainable

Wholesale electricity costs as much as 267% more than it did five years ago in areas near data centers. That’s being passed on to customers.

It was a beautiful Sunday in Portland. Farmer’s markets, the Portland Marathon, peaceful protests, and some views of Mt. Hood. This city is vibrant, peaceful, and resilient. We do not need a federal occupation, and we sure as hell don’t want one.

Kinda convinced nothing will change unless we put caps on income. Like after a certain amount you're taxed at a 100% rate. We gotta stop the rat race, it's literally killing us.
