The good news is that I have received the "free" COVID tests funded by our tax dollars.

The bad news is that they expired 9 months ago and, based upon the revised expiration date, I have just 3 months to get COVID. If I want to know that I have it. $hithole country.

Heads up, USAians: Another round of free COVID tests can be ordered starting today. They are probably going to be expired, but with date extensions, so don't get to excited. 🤷‍♀️

If Bluesky seems dead or low activity on your end it might be that you haven't yet made the most of its design. It's different from Twitter in some key ways so you have to interact differently. I'm writing these tips below from my non-techy perspective, techies please weigh in if I get things wrong:

Is there a way that I can get a super-targeted lobotomy that only destroys my ability to feel AI-induced existential horror?

If ChatGPT has human trainers, what are the odds that it doesn't turn out to be a propaganda-drunk dumbass? After reading its "runaway trolley" answers, I'm thinking the odds are ZERO.

I know you skeeters have probably already heard this, but you might want to tell your mutials on the bird app. I'm seeing way too many accounts over there celebrating their "new" string accounts.

If you know @Balancement on Twitter, then you know you must follow him on Bluesky.
Leaving this up for a bit, just in case.
You may have known me as @Balancement on the swiftly-dying bird app which shall not be named? Poetry and Tchaikovsky and Socialism is my game. The air seems sweeter here...

bugs, feature requests, love letters, h̶a̶t̶e̶ m̶a̶i̶l̶?

use the Send Feedback button (in the left side menu of app)!!

when we had like <100k users it was manageable to respond to people in-app but now all of our notifs are borked and i don't want to leave any of y'all hanging, so use the form pls🙏
📢 1.39 is now available with a new "Send feedback" tool that's easier to use and includes the ability to attach screenshots.

This release also adds a "Help" link and a couple of small bugfixes and updates.

Remember how we used to fantasize about escaping to Canada? 😬
Oh my god Canada
NEW: Google confirms it’s only blocking Canadian news orgs as defined under the Online News Act and would not, for example, block the New York Times or Fox News.

In effect, this change only means we’ll see news produced inside Canada replaced by news produced outside of Canada.
