I can barely form sentences, having seen the brutality against Palestinians & the threats being made against my fam here & in Lebanon, while still feeling compassion for Israelis who, like me, oppose apartheid & war but are powerless to stop their country's brutality. It feels like my soul has died.

I also like to take the 500 double-decker bus. It's across from the São Bento train station. 2€ to ride all the way to Matasinhos. Beautiful beach walk. Seafood central. You can even walk down to Park de Cidade. Very pretty.

It's a party. Lots of happy people, musicians. And stunning. Then, from there, you can go down the stairs to the port wine district. Getting back up is a bitch, but if you take the lower level of the bridge across, there's a meandering set of stairs and a different perspective. Worth it regardless.
