A lovely tale on the importance of community and kindness
Not because I had a small part to play but because now more than ever we need to amplify kindness and human connection, let me share with you the Tale of Kathleen & John
After I had given directions to Kathleen (as I was to learn was her name) she headed off with her trusty walking frame, Esmeralda

A woman steps into the shop: Where do I vote?
Me: Are you looking for Carysfort National School?
Her: Yes, I feel it's my duty, I turned 97 yesterday!

This , impossible to get anything sensible from a search now. AI is slightly better at giving what the search function used give - progress eh?
I don't think we understand just how bad the decline of the Internet is to knowledge.
3 years ago, I could perform a very basic search in any engine and get an absurd number of relevant links, research articles, etc.
Today, I can perform the same search and find absolutely nothing.

Ain’t that the truth. What a lady, what a warrior.
Not a single Greta hater could do what she has done, face what she's faced, bear abuse and humiliation at the hands of the most psychotic and genocidal army. They haven't an ounce of her bravery and that's what drives them crazy. Free Greta, free Palestine🇵🇸

This speech is such an extraordinary combination of lies, delusions, narcissism, hatefulness, ignorance and lunacy that it could have been given by no other person than the president of the United States. It could well be the low point of US public diplomacy in our history.

The suicide rate in Ireland has halved over the past 25 years. It's an incredibly positive achievement. Investment in mental health services, reduced alcohol consumption, and improved financial well-being have all contributed. 🇮🇪👏

Totally unacceptable. People threatening politicians, their families and homes with violence and intimidation has been allowed to fester too long. This has to be taken seriously and stamped out before it gets even worse.
Security operation underway in Co Wicklow after multiple bomb threats were phoned in against Simon Harris’s home.
It’s understood a number of people called several Garda stations making the threat - saying a bomb had been left at the Harris family home.

This is really abhorrent and a real threat to people participating in democracy. I hope whoever’s involved faces full force of law. We all need to speak against this behaviour

The reason many of the commentators don’t like Bluesky is because the infrastructure is set up in a way that no longer benefits them.
On Twitter it was always easier to gain an audience by purposefully saying things that upset people. Getting ratio-ed was a tactic.
Here, that’s much harder.

To a large degree, the collapse of American power is driven by the stupidity of its leaders.
🚨 Speaker Mike Johnson says the problem with gun violence is the human heart, but global evidence shows easy access to guns and inequality — not the heart — drive violence. From Dunblane in the UK to Port Arthur in Australia, stronger laws saved lives.
