Disgusting & unacceptable.

We already have a two-tier marriage system: marriages that work and marriages that don't.

Over 50,000 Israeli soldiers are dual nationals, most have US or European passports.

This means their gov't's have to decide whether to prosecute them for war crimes and genocide. Israel has killed more than 72,000 Palestinians in Gaza.

More than nine-in-ten Irish people believe our country has benefitted from EU membership. 🇮🇪🇪🇺 That's the 2nd highest figure of any member state (just behind Malta). Ireland would not be as wealthy and modern a country today if we had not joined in 1973.

I'm very annoyed by the way Google posts an AI summary ahead of everything else, it seems impossible to turn it off

I dug down into one of the scans and the reasoning was that my writing, and I'm quoting here, "used precise and technical word choice which prioritised clarity and specificty"

Soooo, a professional writer then?

People are bad at spotting AI writing, but think they're good at it. The em dash thing is largely a myth. But human writers are having to avoid writing tricks we've used for years to avoid boring "that's AI" reactions.

Yep.
And, similarly, there are those people posting quite obviously AIgen images and using an "ai detector" to "prove" that the images are not AI which the credulous instantly believe.

We are losing our capacity to think for ourselves very rapidly

"AI detectors" are themselves AI, and yet are endlessly trusted by people on here if they say that a newspaper article is AI.

AI detectors are snake oil. None of them reliably works. And UK broadsheet are not yet using AI to write articles. No, that link to the deal you found doesn't prove it.
Just because I keep seeing those "I checked this piece and it's written by AI" - this is an old article of mine, before AI was available. So could we not?

Plenty of politicians today (justifiably) concerned about schools having dramatic cuts to SNA allocations for the forthcoming school year.

After a root around I can find one (one) TD who raised issue when the NCSE signalled the soft policy change in a revised policy document that led to these cuts.

Yes, Jim Ratcliffe could have sorry for being racist, rather than his choice of racist language for UK consumption.

Using his #ReformUK assisted moneybags ex-pat (immigrant) megaphone from Monaco, no better a look than Dick Lice and Jisabelle Cumshot beaming it in daily from Dubai 🇦🇪

Honestly the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Most people sincerely enter marriage thinking "this is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with" and unfortunately things happen. What Steen seems to think is that everyone doctrinaire turbo-Catholics like herself are just cynics.
Maria Steen, she of the Holy Handbag, argues in the Times that we should introduce a form of marriage with "no possibility of divorce." Maybe she is too young to remember that we already tried this. It ended very badly for some - that's why we introduced divorce.

Now that's a bold proposition. Not sure I follow the link between "confidence in marriage" and "civil contract that parties can't walk away of". Also, marriage is already a lifelong commitment for the catholic church, I wonder what divorced and remarried catholics think about that...
