This morning, my novel /Dread Isle/ is #83 on Amazon's list of bestselling Black & African American Science Fiction. As often happens, one of its neighbors is an Octavia Butler book. As has never happened—to my knowledge—this time it's a Spanish-language version of her work (See #81)!
Yep. The man in the mirror.

/The Only Plane in the Sky/ by @vermontgmg.bsky.social proved to be the book I needed amid trying times. You might think that an oral history of 9/11 would be the last thing to read during an extended period of mourning. Not so for me. For hours at a time, I could not put the book down.

A waft wafted purely for numerical symmetry: As I key it in, I am following 119 Blue Skyers.

This waft is my 119th.

A spectacular shot, @glendunlap.bsky.social!
Here's a shot I got this year that I like a lot. I'm pretty sure this was on Trona Road on the way to some legit Milky way action in the desert! #Photography

/Bizarro/ might be the thing I miss most about not seeing newspapers anymore.

The little bit of this Piraro web comic that I've read so far goes a long way toward filling that void!

See for yourself?

What? You haven't read /Infomocracy/!?!

Whatever are you waiting for?
real talk though if you follow me you probably know SOMEONE who will say "this book was written for me?!" And that's an awesome feeling to give someone ☺️
If you're looking for a quick present for someone, ebooks are always great, and I've got a great one for the poli-sci, cyberpunk, big data nerd, and/or sci fi political thriller fan in your life.

See it on a big-ass screen. Now!

Hey, @emilynussbaum.bsky.social, you got name-checked (by me) last night during the inaugural event for the Pearl Cleage & Zaron Burnett Center, where the eponymous pair took part in a panel talk after the screening of a doc about Club Zebra, a performance art cabaret where 'Mad at Miles' coalesced.

Colonel George Hardy, rest in power.
Col. George Hardy, Tuskegee Airman, veteran of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, who had to fight for the chance to serve the nation with honor and valor.

His story is one we should know. His service should not be lessened by those who want history to look a certain way.

This is amazing lol
"Writers have been using me long before the advent of AI. I am the punctuation equivalent of a cardigan—beloved by MFA grads, used by editors when it’s actually cold, and worn year-round by screenwriters. I am not new here."

This is an absolutely extraordinary, revelatory quote. Why is the NBC affiliate in Portland the only place reporting it? www.kgw.com/article/news...
Trump seems to back off Portland military plan: 'Am I watching things on television that are different from what's happening?'
President Trump had said he will send troops to Portland to protect U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities, which he said were "under attack."
