Metro Washington, DC. Supports Ukraine & Taiwan
Pinned
A controversial post that was painful for me to write.

The European Union and its members have given massive amounts of aid to Ukraine, but from the beginning has never wanted to jeopardize trade with Russia. The EU won't do what it takes to end the war.

NATO and the European Union are throwing Ukraine under the bus.

Commissioner Kubilius proposes that "the battle tested Ukrainian army, after peace has been established in Ukraine, would be ready to be present in all the countries of our frontier region." Yet, he fails to appreciate the need for Baltic nation troops to fight in Ukraine against Russian troops now.

Andrius Kubilius, the EU Commissioner for Defence (and a former PM of Lithuania), proposes Ukrainian troops in Lithuania to protect the Baltics. In my opinion, there is a more immediate need for his nation to send troops to Ukraine to fight RU. @andriuskubilius.ec.europa.eu @lithuaniamfa.bsky.social

The AI bubble may be about to bust.

Peter Thiel has sold all of his Nvidia stock.

We all need to say this very clearly:

NO BAILOUTS FOR THEFT-TECH!

Expropriate their asses instead.

They stole from all of us and fully plan to burn the planet.

They owe us - not the other way around. 1/3

Ukraine must treat the #MindichGate scandal as a turning point. Corruption in #Energoatom is not a secondary problem — it is a structural vulnerability that the Kremlin has exploited for decades to penetrate, influence, and ultimately weaken Ukraine from within. Time for shift to #CleanEnergy
Zelenskyy tried to kill NABU. Then it exposed his friend's $100M scheme. - Euromaidan Press
Zelenskyy's friend Mindich allegedly ran a $100M Energoatom kickback scheme. NABU's tapes explain July's anti-corruption crackdown—and test whether Ukraine can prosecute presidential allies.

The EU's biggest failing is that it sends mixed messages to autocrats in Russia and China. On one hand, it condemns the invasion of Ukraine. On the other, key EU countries - here's the Netherlands - fall over themselves transshipping to Russia. Do better...

You can't have it both ways 👇
Italy's exports to well-known transshipment hubs like Kyrgyzstan (lhs) and Armenia (rhs) are going through the roof. This is happening more than 3 years after the invasion of Ukraine. You can do this kind of thing, but it makes the EU ineffective as a geopolitical actor. You can't have it both ways.

The economic sense is so extremely in favour of renewables now, Pakistan is even paying Qatar penalties to rather NOT deliver the fossil gas that Pakistan already placed orders for, because their Solar PV and batteries make much more sense.

It saves them money to cancel their gas imports and pay!
So Pakistan is *paying* Qatar to *not* deliver LNG because even including this penalty payment their solar PV and battery spending is much better value for money and saves them billions.

How fascinating!

I still can't get over my amazement about Finland, of all countries, having a relatively strong military by European standards.

Just shows how far the dismantling of European militaries went, I guess.
This would be great but it’s kinda funny that Germany would still have a small total force + reserve than Finland (wartime strength 280,000 and total reserve about 900,000)
