❌ Dull. Car dependent, with its own multi-storey. Failure to integrate 19C mill heritage. Gated community (illegally on public space).
✔️ But more of this needed

Town centre rot can only be reversed by the presence of people; suburban sprawl has nothing to contribute.

I can’t understand how the restoration of the Houses of Parliament will cost…
£15 billion!

That’s…. £133,000 a square metre!

For context, to build a brand new skyscraper in London is around £10,000 /m2. What the hell?

Greetings from Cracken Edge Quarries on Chinley Churn, Derbyshire, where this morning it was blowing a hoolie, but there's always shelter enough.

Good intentions about urban density in the body text, >40h/ha, but the site allocations (see rh column) confirm a plan to build car-dependent sprawl, 20-30h/ha.

"This is due to heavy rain flooding the railway line" surely means this is due to poor drainage design and maintenance; wondering if flooding is force majeure?

Nice cuddly words in large font highlighted text boxes, but they hide a lack of substance, the actual policy is in the footnotes.

A good listen.
"An urbanist out there often uses the phrase, well it's better than nothing and I say no, it can often be much worse than nothing because it fails and then everyone says see I told you bike lanes don't work in our city and then you don't get a chance to do it right again."
NEW/LISTEN! Been REALLY looking forward to this one — my interview with Jason from #NotJustBikes IS LIVE on many podcast platforms plus YouTube! We cover a LOT of really important ground on how to ACTUALLY ACHIEVE BETTER CITIES IN REAL PRACTICE! I’m looking forward to your thoughts and comments!

But of course it's just a coincidence. No questions whatsoever about his motivation.

🚨🚗💨 Thanks to Andy Burnham’s Greater Manchester, foothills and valleys of the Peak District fringe face the gravest threat of our lifetimes from huge new roadbuilding.

Two severely harmful old road proposals have been dug up for TfGM’s 2050 transport plan.

But you can choose a different way. 🌳👇
