UK Council bike lane plan: the bike lane cuts in at every minor road and junction, numerous road crossings to wait at, no continuity, no clarity about priority. Sometimes no cycle lane is better than a reluctant cycle lane that prioritises cars.

Hmmm... Habitat 67 (bad form) is 60 years old, a heritage monument listed in Montreal and Quebec, residence for visiting dignitaries, with popular guided tours, its architect awarded the AIA Gold Medal. Wondering if Agar Grove (good form) will be hosting guided tours in 2085. Thks for link anyway.

Almost a quarter of the UK trusts the Mail as a news source. Almost a third trusts GB News. We're f****d.

We can hope council keeps on bungling grant applications as it has done before.
+ support people like GoytValleySOS if they re-appear.
+ vote - in 2022 Cons and LibDems promoted the link, Labour opposed it. Green might oppose also, though I was underwhelmed with their response at the time.

Ugh, they won't let go of the A6-M60 "corridor". Still, its presence on the local plan since 1926 has ensured the accidental conservation of the beautiful Goyt Valley. I went to a council meeting to debate it, the words "relieve congestion" were like a stuck needle.

I mapped unbuilt roads in my home town from 1920s on. Scarily most of the historic planning easements remain undeveloped - it's as if the highways desks are just temporarily in the background waiting for their moment....

Because it's not the driver's fault: vans shift in to auto-mount-the-pavement mode when parking up.

Like many quarters of #Glasgow, Pollokshields is an island, surrounded by a sea of mostly difficult boundaries.
Only a mile from the city centre, but separated by two railway lines, acres of surface car lot, the M74 and its 70mph slip roads, fenced-off green space and the River Clyde.

Finally the Kam Peak Market, recently and successfully in 2025 repurposed as a food venue by interior designers Linehouse. By the time we left it had got busier!

Round a corner from the tourist honeypot of St Paul's church, this tiny structure built in 2012 by the Cultural Affairs Bureau includes a double space exhibition room and gateway shelter info point.

A nice post-modern infil, the Tap Seac Health Centre, 1991, by Carlos Marreiros. Red and yellow "contemporary neo classical". Inside the domed space somewhat lost in the normal health service visual clutter.

Walls are usually rendered, gables to adjacent sites blank, and the render itself has a coarse texture which seems to promote mould growth.

A less widespread type is the colonnade, some more lively and successful than others.

A distinctive typology is the "bird cage" or "flower cage" balcony built out from the facade. These mostly illegal additions give additional storage space, security and safety for children and pets.
