TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-...

I don’t have enough hats to tip for the bold move that @carpentries.carpentries.org just made.
I spoke with Kari Jordan and Erin Becker of The Carpentries about why they declined a $1.5M NSF grant intended to expand data science training. Their decision highlights the growing intersection of #science, #DEI, and federal policy.

I've been writing Rust/Python for 5 yrs, but just started a project requiring all C (last touched 16 years ago!). I know some complain about Rust's slow compiler, but I'll say the trade-off for INSANELY useful error messages has felt
like at best a wash & probably still in Rust's favor.

I'll bet we can make it worse.
I think people are sleeping on how catastrophically bad ICE morale is right now.

Made a Rust library for embedded task pipelines - Cloacina. Handles workflows directly in your app instead of needing external orchestration. Retries, state persistence, all that good stuff.

The kid decided he wanted to play DnD last month (thanks @stinkydragonpod.bsky.social !) So we started a campaign for him and while we’re not recording sessions - i did think some people might enjoy following along (or maybe making it themselves).

Maybe dont go around telling people the sky man wants you to inspect children's genitals and you won't be shunned?
Interesting story that gets to the heart of why many Christians feel persecuted in the U.S.: The secular elite find many of their views abhorrent and uncouth

When did article 4 get invoked?
This isn't going to get the attention of Columbia, but it's at least as bad: the University of Maine is having its funding cut off because the governor of Maine dared to challenge Trump.
I'm appalled by the USDA's decision to pause funding to the University of Maine System.

This will hurt our farmers, halt critical research, and impact students throughout Maine.

Once again, our state is being targeted for retribution—all because our officials are standing up for the rule of law.

I want to say as a former Starlink subscriber (we thankfully got fiber under Biden) that Starlink is NOT a viable alternative. You’re at Elmo’s whims. Price changes, data caps coming on and off with no warning, and if it goes down - I waited 7 weeks to get service restored. Fuck Starlink.

Who the fuck bans imagination library ?!
🚨🚨🚨
PSA- Gov. Braun has banned the distribution of the Imagination Station books in Indiana.

For those who do not know, Imagination Station is a program started by Dolly Parton which provides a free book each month to children from 0-5.

Casually told the F1 about drop bears while we were talking about Australia. He's now very excited about them and wants to visit Australia for them and kangaroos.

Another year another budget spreadsheet. Hopefully someone else finds it useful ! Should be fairly straight forward, you set you assumed income/target spend on the left hand column. You put in your actuals every month as you go. Monthly sheets for 1 time expenses/income.
