I don't know, whatever, some dork, who cares?
My daughter was selected to go to the Creativity Festival on the University of Minnesota campus. It was scheduled for Tuesday 1/13, and today we got an email that it's been canceled due to safety concerns.

Is this the funnest fact?
Ever notice how in Season 1 of Full House the mannequin in Joey’s alcove always has a shirt on that matches Joey’s?

Probably not, because you are a normal person.

Posting this sent me down a rabbit hole reading the era of Nancy by Jerry Scott from Baby Blues and Zits (1983-1995). It's not much like Bushmiller, but it was a pretty solid gag strip! We should talk about this more!

Finally got around the the Doctor Who episode "Rogue."

Speaking as someone who never liked Davies's tendency to turn the Doctor into a flirt instead of the mostly-asexual eccentric of the classic series, I can't deny that the Gatwa/Groff chemistry is off the charts

Thanks to Christmas gifts from my wife and my mom, I now own six copies of the 1935 film A Night at the Opera (details in Alt Text)

So come on over if you want to cram yourself into the stateroom and watch A Night at the Opera in various formats!

I was trying to explain the TV show Episodes starring Matt Leblanc to my co-worker who loves Friends, and I've never felt more insane.

Miles read the words "Cheese Cloth" and asked if it was called that because the logo looks the same as the cheese. It's just the Cub store brand logo, of course, but I love that he made that connection! I love how little brains work!

Finally got back to the newest era of Doctor Who after inexplicably waiting 18 months. "73 Yards" is really good and unsettling!

My daughter and her best friend (both 5th graders) are sitting downstairs watching A Hard Day's Night, cackling away and swooning over Ringo of all people.

I decided last Christmas to replace most of my doomscrolling time with falling back into DC Comics.

My goal was to read 1000 DC issues in 2025, and I finished at 1,030. A fun way to distract myself!

As soon as the ball dropped, my kids asked if we could switch to PBS Kids, so now we're watching Odd Squad. What a joy!

We watched Holiday (1938), as we usually do on New Year's Eve. Here's what our 7-year-old son had to say after his first viewing:

"It's not as silly as A Night at the Opera, and A Night at the Opera isn't as silly as Duck Soup."

A man after my own heart.

All of this.
I live in Minnesota. I’m not from here but chose it, in part because of the diversity, the supportive environment for kids and families, and the overall sense of community that makes those sides work well.

Now it’s all under attack by the federal government and the President of the United States.

New Year's Eve is one of my favorite days of the year, because it's the day I make a big pot of stock out of all the frozen chicken and turkey bones we've saved throughout the year. About halfway there!

It's my birthday, and my wife got me the new novelization of Chimes of Midnight, an 8th Doctor audio adventure that we listen to every single year.

Yes, friends, we're far enough down the rabbit hole that I'm delighted to get a prose adaptation of an audio play based on a TV show.

Tomorrow is my birthday. For my birthday, please tell me the name of your favorite bookstore or comics shop in your area! That way I'll know everyone's favorite bookstore and/or comics shop, and that will make me quite happy on my birthday.

My brother got me Parks & Rec Monopoly for Christmas. That's a fun gift, but the fact that it has the regular "Go to Jail" guy instead of Fred Armisen is a real missed opportunity. Inexcusable!

Stick to Shorts, an incredible* podcast about Golden Age animated shorts, is gearing up to release its second season. Catch up on the first season if you enjoy thoughtful discussion and also silliness!

(*Full disclosure, I'm on it sometimes)

Look, the Pioneer Press isn't perfect, but I've never been prouder to be a St. Paul diehard than I am after reading this.
This shit is made up, actually

I've been thinking a lot about this meme, so that's my 2026 plan. I took social media apps off of my phone and I'm going to try to treat the internet like a place that I visit at my desk.
