Season Preview Pod!

Key questions in part 1:

1. Is Julius Randle's playoff level of play sustainable or was it mostly (rounds 1+2) matchup based?
2. How does Naz Reid live up to his contract on this roster?
3. Can this team return to being a top 3 defense or is the talk more sizzle than steak?

And interesting tidbit from @zachlowenba.bsky.social on his most recent episode:

Ant is the 2nd most blitzed ball handler in the league (17%, behind Luka) in the league.

He’s passing at a career high percentage out of the pick and roll (shooting a career low) and his assists are a career low %.

After each game, we hand out a Big Ticket and Shake Milton Award, for the best/worse game based on role/expectation. Through 15 games, here's the standings:

Big Ticket
Julius Randle: 4
Jaden McDaniels: 3
Ant/Naz/Rudy/Donte: 2

Shake Milton
TJ Shannon: 4
Ant: 3
Naz/Dilly: 2
Conley/Rudy/Donte/None: 1

Sorry - Naz Reid may be on 50 watch 👀
Not the highest level of intensity from the Wolves on the defensive end, but with Clark in, things are picking up.

Ant may be in 50 watch, though doubtful he’ll be playing in the 4th.

Estimated Plus/Minus and Net Rating numbers for the Wolves through 14 games. Of note:

1. Jaylen Clark new leader in net rating.
2. Randle has passed Rudy Gobert in EPM for the first time in his Wolves' tenure.
3. McDaniels is shooting 52.1% on 3's, essentially the league leader for rotation guys.

JUSTICE FOR OUR GIRL
November 18, 2025 at 3:14 AM
… why is Mike Conley on the floor in the 4th quarter of a 32pt game when you have a young guy you are trying to develop at the position?
November 18, 2025 at 2:59 AM
I don’t know how realistic it is - but would love to see extended run for Dilly/Clark tonight and some non-garbage time Beringer minutes.

One of those nights where Conley isn’t needed and Gobert should be sub-25.
November 18, 2025 at 1:56 AM
Starters were a little flat to start the game…

Naz comes in and does Naz things on offense.

Jaylen comes in and does Jaylen things on defense.

And there’s a 13pt lead!

Pretty sure after being guarded by Clark for 3 minutes, D’Lo asked to be taken off the floor.

Two early season games against Denver, both on the 2nd night of a back-to-back, two games where the legs were gone by the 4th quarter.

Would have much preferred Braun playing tonight over THJ who was 4/5 from deep and was their 3rd best player on the floor.

Think I’m good with this crew for the rest of the season.
November 16, 2025 at 3:24 AM
Wolves missing multiple wide open 3s this quarter. Process has been pretty good, but the shots just aren’t falling.
November 16, 2025 at 3:10 AM
Would be a great time for Gobert to show up.
November 16, 2025 at 3:02 AM
Can feel some of the 2nd night of a b2b legs for the Wolves right now - a bit of a danger zone as ball movement is drying up.

Rudy not exactly putting the bad team merchant takes to bed in this one
November 16, 2025 at 2:38 AM
That is closer to an illegal screen than a flagrant foul. Cmon.
November 16, 2025 at 2:33 AM
Yup! Even with 0 fouls Jokic has very little interest in going after shots - when he’s got three, gotta live at the rim this half.
Pretty straightforward.

Get downhill with intention.

No rim protector.

Bucket or foul.

Every time.

Naz Reid. Welcome back Two Words!!
November 16, 2025 at 1:59 AM
So Valuncunas is a dirty ass player. Flopping and ripping through a player when locking up an arm - some garbage there.
November 16, 2025 at 1:56 AM
+12 in that Jaylen Clark/Naz Reid shift. Energy completely flipped when Clark came on the floor, and Naz having his best effort of the season so far.

Gotta take advantage of these non-Jokic minutes coming.

Pick and roll defensive demons are haunting this team so far this quarter. Zero answers for the Westbrook/Sabonis pick and roll.
November 15, 2025 at 2:36 AM
Just got caught up at half time. Go ahead and give Jaylen Clark a lifetime contract before the 3rd quarter.

And Sabonis has been awesome - but it does help that he’s being allowed to set screens and move his feet like an offensive lineman.

A break from postgame award episodes to dive into the numbers and help us get a sense of this team's identity through eleven games.

The story of the season so far? The incendiary shooting of the starters:

66% true shooting, 53.6/44.2 from the field and deep - all comfortably the best in the NBA.
