Season Preview Pod!

Key questions in part 1:

1. Is Julius Randle's playoff level of play sustainable or was it mostly (rounds 1+2) matchup based?
2. How does Naz Reid live up to his contract on this roster?
3. Can this team return to being a top 3 defense or is the talk more sizzle than steak?

Chris Finch on Beringer: "People are going to have to sacrifice minutes, but if he plays like this, then we should be benefiting from everybody. We will step-by-step this. Since draft night, we’ve long believed in this kid. This is just the beginning."

Another Wolves win, another hotly contested Big Ticket award to hand out! They dominated sans Edwards and Gobert with crisp ball movement and team defense.

But the cherry on top tonight was the play of Joan Beringer.

Only good vibes! …Well, until Mitch got his 3rd technical of the season 😬

Ohhh Giannis and Randle getting physical - lots of extra contact.

They are both strong humans #analytics

Effort much better for Milwaukee as they open the 3rd quarter on a 12-3 run. Will be interesting to see how the shorthanded Wolves - still up 22, but game very much still in striking distance.

Boo birds out in Milwaukee as the Wolves lead 76-45 at the half.

Boos are absolutely deserved as Milwaukee’s effort was as low as I’ve seen from any team this year.

Credit to the Wolves - their shotmaking has taken the spirit out of the team.

But actually a fantastic first stint for Joan Beringer. Contested a handful of shots, ran the floor and got a transition bucket and posts a +15 in four minutes.
Milwaukee is scoreless since Beringer checked in. #DPoY

Beringer time!!

Awesome fight from this group on defense to start. Forced 2 early turnovers and holding the Bucks to 38% shooting.

Doing a really good job of showing Giannis tons of bodies in the paint and scrambling back when he passes it.

Julius Randle goes from guarding Victor Wembanyama in the fourth quarter on Sunday to splitting time on Giannis Antetokounmpo tonight.

Big opportunity for him to take some pressure off of Jaden McDaniels defensively.

Update through 40 games:

1. DiVincenzo's leap is the story of the past 10 games - now 2nd in net rating and on the tail of Randle for EPM.
2. Rudy Gobert is now the league leader(!) in defensive EPM.
3. As a whole, the Wolves are now 5th in EPM net rating as a team, sliding into contender status.

Folks on the ground are asking me to lift this up because the need is still growing, all around Minnesota.

If you can give, please do, and if you can't, please amplify!
Friends, thank you for stepping up! Over $40,000 worth of dash cams have been ordered so far for ICE observers in the Twin Cities!

Early orders are trickling in, but we’re getting them packed and deployed ASAFP - several were installed yesterday, these are ready, and 300+ are on the way!

Really fun game to talk about last night!

For his 4th quarter effort on both ends, Randle takes home the 🎟️ , but it was hotly contested:

DiVincenzo: 19-9-7
Jaden: 3 blocks as the needed rim protector with Rudy’s struggles
Naz: Team high +23 and kept the Wolves in it in the 3rd
Ant: The Closer

I wore an ICE OUT shirt while courtside at the Timberwolves game yesterday. Security initially said I needed to give them the shirt (I didn't), but later clarified that I just needed to wear something else. Here's a nice write-up about it by Jon Krawczynski ✊

Still recovering from the fact that in an NBA game featuring Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert, Julius Randle was the most impactful defensive player on the floor in the 4th quarter.

Extend this stat out, and it’s 12/14 final possessions in which the Wolves scored
In the clutch, Wolves scored on 7/9 offensive possessions.

What. A. Win.
