Edinburgh Council is not proposing the 'destruction of a park', it's proposing the restoration of a former railway line to meet climate targets, reduce congestion, improve air quality, provide economic opportunities, enhance mobility and reduce social inequality.

I had my political differences with Dick Cheney, but in person I found him warm, funny, a gracious host and surprisingly knowledgeable about music. Seeing The Jesus Lizard with him in 2009 was a blast, and he didn't hesitate to wade into the pit despite a few sidelong glances.

And yet, whilst at university, I never saw her at a Stretchheads gig.
Closest comparison I can think of in the UK is Sturgeon.

Grew up in Irvine, doesn’t mind sport, you could never imagine her in Eton. Unionist politicians were absolutely terrified of her.

Quite surprised the council agreed to this. While print media is a good thing, the last thing Portobello prom needs is more clutter.
We have a brand new dispenser on Porty Prom filled with 200 papers for you to pick up and read. New November issue out now.

Very pleased for the appreciation of Paterson here. I think about it more than most films I’ve see. This century and would happily watch on a holiday or a quiet weekend.
Enjoyable list of unscary films: some undeniable greats, a deserved number one and many films I now want to see. But I think Stuart Heritage has forgotten the Vietnam reminiscence scene in The Straight Story and the various allusions to people burning to death www.theguardian.com/film/2025/oc...

1. It's fascinating to see, as you can from the responses to the post below, how many daft things people believe, to justify their continued meat eating. So let's examine a few of the common myths in the following thread. 🧵
For years, there's been a massive over-emphasis on food miles, and a massive under-emphasis on food type.
By far and away the best dietary decision you can make, for environmental, humanitarian and public health purposes, is to cut out animal products.
Remember this, whenever someone says "alternative proteins - yuck!"
