The annoying spam texts destroying the Democratic brand:

$678M raised through those spam tactics

$282M to one consulting firm: Mothership Strategies.

$11M to actual campaigns (1.6%)

The party isn’t just treating donors like marks—it’s being fleeced itself yet continues to back Mothership.
The Mothership Vortex: An Investigation Into the Firm at the Heart of the Democratic Spam Machine
How a single consulting firm extracted $282 million from a network of spam PACs while delivering just $11 million to actual campaigns.

This NYT report is an incredible scandal. The scandal is that the NYT published it and how it came together. A media reporter had better be on this — and get details.
This is insane anonymity.
Always curious to see who gets to be an anonymous source!

This is going to be remembered for all time as Columbia’s response to having a student protestor kidnapped and held prisoner by a budding authoritarian regime. It is unspeakable cowardice.

Last night’s article in the Washington Post about D.C. police responding to a 911 call by illegally letting DOGE onto private property is unlike any news story I have ever read. Every single person should read this article and think about where our society is going.

Apparently sub-basement C is a perfect environment for my aloe plant to attempt to take over the office.

I didn't even know they could flower!

Nothing like adding to the sack of dead batteries to remind you of just how many times your kids leave their walkie talkies, robots, and meowing kitty toys on overnight (and then are perplexed and distraught why they won't work when they want to play with them next).

They should stop trying to run the government like a business!

I don't want the country to go bankrupt (like most companies do), or be bought out by a competitor, or taken private and sold off in pieces. And I don't think many Americans want that either.

fuck me for believing all the bullshit about American exceptionalism I guess

I won’t stop believing tho

I still believe that this is a place for the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to be free

I still believe in the better angels of our nature

I still believe in the freedom from fear

I'm hearing from reputable sources that DOGE has begun the next phase of its plan and has embedded people in each federal agency to microwave leftover fish dinners several times a day.

Word is they're also instructed to leave the reheated meals in the microwave for a minimum of 30 "reminder beeps"

It would help if the news stopped credulously repeating whatever "Administration officials" spout.

If Congress doesn't care about firing of food safety scientists that Congress passed a law to hire after recent infant formula deaths, maybe the public will...

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

Enjoying my greatest yard maintenance discovery.

Quite the turnaround from when as a child I bet my dad $5 I could mow the lawn with my new plastic boomerang

Great! They should really root out corruption. I'd start with a list of Americans ordered by net worth and seeing which ones are government employees.

A full audit of each one, starting with the richest.
Elon Musk has just said: DOGE is looking at federal employees who have high net worth despite low pay

Trump has said: There could be close to $1 trillion dollars of waste we're going to find [through cuts]

Apropos of nothing in particular, those who work in national security generally take annual "Insider Threat" training.

One of the joys of fatherhood is discovering things like this and trying to decide if your kids have accidentally knocked the doll under the couch or if they're working on the screenplay for the next series of Chucky movies
