I used to represent trans women who were released from ICE detention. Multiple trans women died in custody from medical neglect.

I haven't spoken to anyone contemplating an unlawful border crossing, and I don't believe any undocumented inmates have petitioned for gender-affirming surgery (but the law has long required federal prisons to provide gender-affirming care)
