Ruining history for people since 2001.
Siri, show me the best example of replacing actual Christianity and what the Bible actually says with white Christian nationalism…
Q: Pope Leo cited Matthew 25:35 to critique Donald Trump's mass deportation agenda. How would you respond to Pope Leo in scripture?

MIKE JOHNSON: Sovereign borders are biblical and right and just. It's not because we hate the people on the outside. It's because we love the people on the inside.

Just got my annual hearing test and reprogramming of hearing aids and wow the world is a scarily noisy place how do you normals do this every day. Freaked out that my tongue makes so much noise when I talk. Usually takes my brain 7-14 days to readjust....

“Charles I was unjustly convicted & wrongly executed but calling him martyr is an oversimplification of complex intersection of religion and politics in the 1600s, even a rewriting of history, as well as potentially expanding concept of martyrdom in really problematic areas.”

A reminder of one of Commander Adama's most important convictions: "There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state. The other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people."

On day Most Rev & Rt Hon Sarah Mullally formally becomes Archbishop of Canterbury, giving thanks for this historic appointment, and finding it still emblematic of Anglicanism's imperial hangover that while a woman can be appointed, a non-British or non-Commonwealth citizen cannot.

Words said to my history class: "White supremacy must be enforced by state violence. They will kill whoever they wish, pass whatever laws, ignore whatever laws, rewrite history openly. No one is held accountable. This has happened in every era of American history from 1619 to today." #AbolishIce

One of most exclusive relics in medieval Europe was Jesus’ foreskin (as a good Jewish boy he was circumcised). Just behind that was John the Baptist’s head, and there were at a minimum three different ones. And in 3rd place was Loreto, Jesus’ childhood home magically transported to Italy by angels.
Ok folks: what is your favorite fact that you share with people (maybe a bit too) eagerly?

I was once almost arrested by Soviet police for being an East German spy.

When I was on exchange program in USSR in early 90s locals often wouldn’t believe I was American because I actually could speak Russian, most saying I was East German or Romanian. I’d also speak English with a really stereotypical Russian accent when tourists in Red Square asked for directions.
a tourist once asked me for directions in Cambridge and despite living there I didn't know so I pretended not to speak english. As many people speak eg French or Italian, I pretended to be Czech.

I'm sure you can guess with laser-like precision which country they turned out to be from.

A student once objected to the “D” I gave them and said they had written the paper after prayer so I was giving God a “D” and how could I live with that. I said “Well in that case God deserved it, and I can live with it because God knows it’s a D paper, God is omniscient.”
If you actually read the student's essay, it doesn't cite any verses from the Bible, or attempt any explication of where Biblical views of gender might derive from. It just asserts "this is the Biblical worldview" without any evidence. That's not just bad psychology; it's bad religion scholarship.

Maybe I’ll start a new playthrough of Witcher 3 or Fallout 4 so I’ll have something to do while the office is closed after Christmas

Throughout the 1990s I would do a combination of leaving my coat/jacket at home no matter the weather and/or not wear nice clothes when I went out to bars/clubs (I was young once) because everything I wore would reek of smoke for days after.
this is a good reminder of how things that are shitty but have been accepted as normal and inevitable can actually turn out to be abnormal and evitable with some science, time, education and political will
