In researching the bicentennial history of Bexley Hall / Seabury Western, I did a lot of research into the history of theology education and formation for indigenous peoples in the Episcopal Church...and wow yeah it was pretty terrifying.

And just shows how normalized and entrenched misogyny is - there would not (at least right now that is) be a NY Times headline “Did Blacks ruin the workplace?” Or “Did Jews ruin the workplace?”

My old mentor also was raised in the Orthodox Church and used to opine “strange how mass incense allergies only seem to afflict Protestant churches that use hypoallergenic incense 2-3 times year and not Catholic or Orthodox Churches”

My mentor from my sponsoring parish used to say when he was spooning the incense onto the coals “you can’t have a cloud of witnesses without a cloud.”

God I wish there was a David Lynch version of this it would be so awesome. We'd find out who the pyscho is who gives rocks to children in their trick or treat bags, and their house would be so scary.
