So Labor and the Liberals teamed up to pass legislation to give police the power to recommend cancellation of Centrelink payments of people who have not been found guilty of a crime by a court of law. It’s discriminatory financial punishment of people in poverty who are already over-policed

RE starbucks picket line--the relevant detail is "picket line, do not cross." Pass that along. Proclaiming that you are in no danger of doing so because you are too aesthetically pure to let Starbucks coffee pass your lips is...unhelpful and does not give the impression you perhaps imagine it does.

Just here to remind you that, with “net zero”, we’re having a meaningless argument about a meaningless frame in order to distract from the single most important and meaningful issue confronting us.

This is politics today.

We should stop wasting time and energy and build a new system.

The ALP didn't bother negotiating with the Libs when it changed IR laws, but now apparently it needs LNP support for environmental protection changes.

When govts want to do something, they do it.
When they don't, they use bipartisanship as the excuse.

No one here should fall for it

The electorate voted for a senate that has a majority of ALP and Greens.

Murray Watt and the ALP are choosing instead to write laws that will please the LNP and mining companies.

This is not the outcome a majority of Australians voted for.
I’m getting weary of this. This government is representative of what the people of this place want. The argument is with all of us. Turning it into a constant personalised political snipe belittles the nature of the problem.
Thanks to Murray and his ALP pals, weather reports like this will become increasingly scary and weird

The Guardian is reporting that since Israel and Hamas signed the ceasefire and full hostage exchange agreement, Israel has violated the ceasefire 47 times, killed 38 Palestinians, and wounded another 143 more.

Meanwhile Hamas has released all remaining hostages.

Always remember - The ALP do not need a single vote from an LNP Senator to pass laws.
“The environment minister wants to pass a major re-write of federal nature laws this year, encouraging miners to lobby the Coalition to work with Labor to help rush it through parliament in the final three sitting weeks”

Just contemplate that sentence.

It's why all the ALP podcaster wannabe influencers are so happy with this govt. They too would rather spend time bashing the Greens than actually advocating for progressive policies. Politics for them is just supporting a footy team rather than caring about things that affects people's lives

The biggest problem with the ALP right now is it is led by someone who irrationally hates the Greens.

He doesn't really like to "fight Tories"; he loves to fight the party that reveals his actual lack of "left-wing" positions.

Someone needs to tell him to get over his uni politics crap.

I don't think we'll ever get another sentence which sums up everything the New York Times embodies quite like "Some legal experts have called it a crime to summarily kill civilians".
hey @nytimes.com: there is no counterpoint here. There are no credible legal experts who would EVER say that the US military has any right or authority to blow civilian craft out of the Caribbean and kill their crews from afar without any provocation. There is no other side to this question.
