Long-time car designer now in charge of EV navigation for a tech company. Dutchie by choice. Passionate about cars, design, and the points where they intersect.
Actually, in the 17th century, the French Academy of Science seriously considered the “demi-raisin sec” and the “grains de riz” as units of the metric system.

They were ultimately abandoned in favor of something not completely idiotic and arbitrary.
wake up babe, new units of measurement just dropped www.nytimes.com/2025/11/17/s...

As always, some great ones in here.
Japan's "Mundane Halloween" costume contest is back!

Each year website DailyPortalZ holds a contest where people dress up as something super duper ordinary.

Here's a thread of some of my favorites from the 2025 contest!

That K-open and the Mazda X-Vision Compact (not pictured) make me very happy indeed. After Munich, I would argue auto shows might still have something to offer.
They say auto shows are dead, but the Japanese automakers disagree.

Sounds like an amazing way to disconnect and find some peace in our chaotic world. I’ve know Drew for years and he’s a master at creating space for people to open up and be themselves.
So, my friend Kalia (@tohirako.bsky.social) and I have built a thing we'd love to share with you.

It's called Seinoza, which is Japanese for "a place of stars".

What's the offer?

Small group pilgrimages through the quieter corners of Japan, starting in April '26.

Here's the back story:

The sauna-like temperature in this 787 that’s been parked for approximately 45 minutes in 17C ambient temperature is not helping my general dislike of the aircraft.

The “please remain seated, boarding will begin shortly based on zones” draws a huge queue of half the passengers.

Every. Single. Time.

It’s really not that complicated folks.

I didn’t know there was any other kind of post on LinkedIn. It’s an absolute dumpster fire of grifters, assholes, and AI content.
I never knew LinkedIn had shitposters

This is super cool and love the Star Wars cantina aesthetic as much as anyone, but I can understand why this would not make for a pleasant airport experience. You’ve just spent 7 hours in a dark metal cylinder with 200 strangers, maybe low ceilings and brutalist seating aren’t the welcome you need.

It's absolutely astonishing: In just about 13 years, Norway has skyrocketed from virtually no sales of zero-emission battery electric vehicles to nearly 100% of all new passenger car purchases.

I am the consummate car guy. I dedicated my life to creating and adoring them. But I have also learned that life is better when you don’t need one. I’d rather take the bike and/or the train and I love living in a walkable city. It’s not about “taking away your car”, it’s about giving you a choice.
You can be a “car guy” and not like car dependency. You can be a “car guy” and get that too many cars in cities is bad for everyone, including drivers. You can be a “car guy” and be tired of lies & manipulations like “the war on cars.” You can be a “car guy” and know more choice means more freedom.

Is Peugeot really sure they want Gilles Vidal back? What exactly is this Seat Focus pastiche meant to be in Renault’s lineup?

Such a letdown after the R4 and R5.
