I spent the last two days in Manhattan for a work trip. My experience was excellent in large part due to the kindness of countless workers who were not born in the U.S.

It is shocking and confusing to me how a NYC-born leader would have anything but love and support for the immigrant community.

When you are from a poor, rural family and one of you accomplishes something big in school...there's nothing like the joy, pride, and celebration.

My little niece found out today that she passed the bar exam, first try.

I don't even know how to describe it. Our family group chat is POPPING.

I'm worried about my community and our ability to feed everyone. I need to do some reading on how this impacts WIC.
The clips and conversations I’m hearing about the SNAP (food stamp) cuts should be above the fold everywhere. It’s a scary time for a lot of people.
Families are already hanging by a thread, but the sad truth is it’s about to get a lot worse when SNAP benefits don’t go out in November.

It’s time to find our local food banks and help out with donations and volunteer hours if you are able.

What happens to the studies if they fire the IRB?
The entire HR department at the CDC is gone. Everyone at the IRB, which makes sure studies are conducted ethically and rigorously, and the ethics office, which oversee conflicts of interest for CDC leaders and advisory committee members, were also let go.

This administration needs to take my autistic kids' names right out of their mouths. You can't care about autistic kids and do this. Shame on them.

I was meditating and was overcome with sadness that our President is obviously so sick, mentally and physically, but his closest colleagues are not getting him the rest and care that he obviously needs. We are called to comfort the sick. I wish healing and comfort for him even if I don't like him.

If military families are not getting paid, is there a way to adopt a family, pay for their groceries, medicine, etc? What are the best organizations that help military families?

Not excusing her behavior but I think it's quite a double standard for Katie Porter to be making headlines when...all this...waving hands...

Listen. I am just as surprised as anyone else but she really came through at the Epstein press conference a few weeks ago. People are allowed to grow and learn. I'll take it.

One of our great photographers took my picture! My daughter said it captures my essence and I agree! Decades of practice went into this seemingly simple photo. Amazing considering it only took him about 20 seconds. So grateful for my evening with this kind, funny, and fascinating man.

Ever notice that he almost never refers to his staff by anything other than their first name, even in front of people who don't know them well? It's always 'Marco' or 'Kristi.' My boss always uses 'Ms./Mr./Dr.' as a signal to others to show us respect.

On social media I met the parent who introduced me to the doctor who saved my son's life.

Among many other things.

Yes.
I met a bunch of incredibly great friends.

Did a whole lotta cool science.

Organized conferences.

Did cool things.

Yes.
Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?

I am traveling for work a lot this month. Last night I slept in the hotel bed for eight hours straight with no interruptions. I usually get four hours in a row if I am lucky before a child needs me, maybe a total of 6-7 hours in bed. I miss my kids so much but I really needed to rest.

Playing peek-a-boo with my guy. I can't believe he has almost outgrown his wheelchair. I'm glad I bought this one a little too large a few years back. I really like the Convaid transport chairs.

Got my flu + COVID vaccines today. So glad it is still available where I live. My arm is a little sore and it hurt a little to lift up my arm to do the dishes tonight but that's about it for side effects so far.
