NEW: We’ve uncovered the first known example of taxpayer money flowing from DHS to businesses controlled by Kristi Noem’s allies and friends.

It’s part of a money trail that’s been shrouded in secrecy—and involves $220 million, a mysterious Delaware LLC & a horse named Gill.

And to think that this is in an email that was among those already in the hands of Republicans and Dems on the Hill. I can only imagine what is in the 300,000 emails that Trump’s DOJ is sitting on.

Chuck Schumer Helps Pull Democrats Back From Brink Of Courage

Booing from Phoenix, where I’m stuck because his party shut down the government instead of extending healthcare insurance premium subsidies.
I'm booing him all the way from Chicago.
Trump getting booed at the Commanders game

My flight home was just canceled thx to the GOP shutdown of the govt. I’m ok with that as long as Dems stand firm for health care premium subsidies. If Schumer folds, so help me God, Sen. Baldwin is going to get an earful from me.
Senate Democrats are meeting behind closed doors to discuss the emerging deal. “Stay tuned,” Schumer tells us with a grin.

Apparently Americans don’t like kings after all! #NoKings
Democrats just ran the table, winning the marquee races -- NJ and VA sweeps, NYC mayor, CA prop, PA Supreme Court -- and lower-profile races in red and purple states across the nation.

If the media you're reading or watching paints this as anything but a massive win, stop reading or watching them.

The next @raygunsite.com message tshirt has written itself. I want one of the “Smell the onions and mustard” shirts!
The trial of the D.C. sandwich thrower is officially underway—and the testimony of the “assaulted” officer is harrowing indeed.

The Border Patrol agent, who was wearing a bulletproof vest, testified he was not injured by the sandwich but that he could "smell the onions and mustard." trib.al/TKBbxXa

This is one of the reasons that I no longer buy Kindle reader books (and cancelled my Amazon subscription entirely) and now buy from Bookshop.org instead. It’s nice to have alternatives!

Brown shirts and all, as with so many things, they aren’t even trying to hide it. The playbook is clear.
This morning, I was hit in the face by a baton.

I’m going to have a pretty gnarly bruise but we need to remember why this is happening: Trump and ICE are rounding up our neighbors, treating them as subhuman, and shipping them off to labor camps in foreign countries. It has to end.

The cover photo on this post by @prospect.org perfectly captures the authoritarianism of the moment, both from the background image of who is behind it and the foreground images of who is enforcing it.
In Chicago, ICE agents are terrorizing immigrants and criminalizing people looking for work. Those who fight back have been targeted for abductions. From @sarahlazare with @workdaymagazine: trib.al/fL1e5t9
How ICE Terror Campaigns Are Used to Discipline Labor
While Chicago sees a surge of ICE detentions, workers are facing retaliation as immigrants when they advocate for their rights.

Oof. In new Quinnipiac poll, Trump's approval is down to 43-54 in *Pennsylvania.*

Among independents in Pennsylvania Trump is down to an abysmal 29-64.

Josh Shapiro's approval just hit 60 percent.

By the way, there are contested House races in Pennsylvania.

Today marks the 60th anniversary of the passage of the Voting Rights Act. The beginning of true democracy in America. A offering to this country paid for by the work, dedication and lives of ordinary Black people.

Very sad news. He was only 65 years old. I watched him play in Wrigley from 1984 until he retired after the 1997 season. What a phenomenal player and, from what I hear, a tremendous human being.
With great sadness, we share that Ryne Sandberg has passed away today.

It can’t be said often enough that we all need to stand up for what is right and just, and not cower from taking a stronger stand because we are concerned about how doing so will affect our bank accounts or subject us to criticism. Integrity and truth are the point, not merely saving your own skin.

Trump said again today some countries “are just gonna have to pay tariffs.”

The news is reporting that Japan, and possibly Scotland, may have to pay a “baseline 15% tariff.”

COUNTRIES DON’T PAY TARIFFS. AMERICANS BUYING THE GOODS FROM THOSE COUNTRIES PAY THE TARIFF.

Anyone STILL not get that?

In 2016 this guy went to a law office with the goal of killing his wife’s lawyer. He hacked a woman to death with a machete and bludgeoned two other people to death (including a man he falsely thought was that lawyer), then set fire to the building to cover his tracks.

Anyway, Trump just freed him.
