From last week mudlarking on the Thames Foreshore, a Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) green heart trade bead, red exterior with a dark green core. Made on the island of Murano, Venice, 17th-19thC, these were used as currency by Europeans to trade with Indigenous & First Nation communities in America 1/

outsourcing is superficially attractive to executives and chairs because it would *appear* to also transfer accountability, introducing another layer between operator-management-governance. but when things go catastrophically wrong the outsourced operation is no protection against accountability

In 1936, Cedric Morris stated he wished 'to provoke a lively sympathy with the mood of the birds which ornithological exactitude may tend to destroy.' The scene looks towards Stoke-by-Nayland church (painted by Constable in 1810) near Morris' home at Pound Farm Higham in Suffolk.

'Chant du lointain.' In September 1906, Fernand Hodler stayed in Interlaken where this work was painted. It was a period where clothes became atemporal, draped to emphasise movement; emphatic gestures were inspired by modern dance and experimental ways of expressing emotion.

I recall going on mushroom hunts with the NYS Mycologist and witnessing his difficulty in positively identifying certain species, and this was a guy with a PhD in Mycology!
