Working on another abstract piece, and have an idea for yet another one. Since I began my abstract series, I want to continue adding to it on a semi-regular basis. Abstract art is a nice break from my more illustrative work.

Some folks claim to read over 100 books a year.
Only if they're doing little else but reading!
I'm a busy man. I have a life AND a business to run, which includes creating art.
I'm an avid reader, but I'm only able to manage to read about 30 books a year. There isn't time for more. I'VE TRIED!

Being a versified travelogue of the fantastic, Cosmic Journeys and Gothic Visions first blasts off to wondrous alien worlds and dreamy folkloric vistas before drifting toward a Gothic realm of nightmarish landscapes.

Human Artists, use only one piece to convince people to follow you.

"Telling Tales", which originally appeared on the cover of the April 2015 issue of SPACEPORTS AND SPIDERSILK, published March 2015.

I've never been a Netflix subscriber. I've never watched anything on Netflix. This news just makes me even less likely to ever use their services.

As a rule, I don't use streaming services anyway. I'm still into physical media.

There aren't supposed to be any wolves in NYS, but there are.
There aren't supposed to be any pumas in NYS, but there are.
There aren't supposed to be any Bigfoot in NYS (or anywhere else, for that matter), but there are.

I've also heard stories of large BLACK cats being seen in NYS.

I've heard dogs howling (when I was a kid, I had a Samoyed/Malamute mix who'd howl whenever she heard distant sirens).
I've heard coyotes howling.
There aren't supposed to be any wolves in NYS.
The howling I now attribute to an Eastern Bigfoot was like NOTHING I'd heard before. TREMENDOUS volume!

Here's an item in my Azure Lion Productions Zazzle Store that could use a little more love an attention — my Aliens Entwined (Aliens and Celtic Knot) Postcard.

I'm rather proud of this work that melds a sci-fi theme with a Celtic design.

Folks saying that ALL Americans should be punished for the madness of Trump 2.0, whether or not they voted for him, makes me think of this quote from the Albigensian Crusade: "Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt ei", oft paraphrased in modern parlance as "kill them all, let God sort them out!"

I grew up with the woods as my backyard.
I heard that bears were around, but never saw one.
I suppose that means bears don't really exist.
(A neighbor said he found tracks of a mother and cub one winter. At the time, I found some by my rabbit's hutch. To young me, they looked like large dog tracks.)

Reminded yet again of why I think writers tend to be an arrogant egotistical bunch of know-it-alls.
January 22, 2026 at 3:55 AM
I suggest those who claim folks are merely seeing bears should look into the late Dr. John Bindernagel's argument as to why that's not necessarily the case.
Bindernagel was an actual wildlife biologist who argued that the details often reported in BF sightings do not match up with those of bears.
Jeff VanderMeer doesn't believe in Bigfoot :( but he does believe in bears :)

Reality is just as sweet as myth, @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social writes. Sorry to the Bigfoot truthers; the real world is just as cool. A takedown of mythology, and an argument for reality, here.

Are people crying Bigfoot when it’s really a bear?

I'm not a "Bigfoot truther", I'm a Bigfoot KNOWER. Having had experiences with what I believe to have been an Eastern Bigfoot (including hearing its howling only a short distance away), and knowing a highly credible witness who saw it, I KNOW they exist!
I also have a BS in Biology. Does VanderMeer?

Sad, but not surprising. Several years back, I recall running across the FB profile of a young man who proudly proclaimed that he didn't read books, as if it was something to brag about.

Me? I read a total of 32 book last year. Granted, some were short booklets, but not all.

My shingles rash on my right calf just won't go away. Every time it looks like it's about to clear up finally, it flares right back up again. This has been going on since July.

Michele says I have perma-shingles. She may be right! I blame long Covid.
