In a March 2024 concurrence, Justice Barrett argued that temporary “administrative” stays should be relatively rare and of exceptionally limited duration.

As today’s bonus “One First” notes, in the 18 months since, they’ve only proliferated at #SCOTUS, and lower courts have continued to abuse them:

Good analysis and proposal. Of course only a matter of time before someone says polarization always bad because civility, discourse, etc. ...
Trump/RFK are decapitating our public health system, a pillar of American greatness. So Dem Govs should scour every corner of the law for creative new ways to defend their people from this madness.

Dems should polarize this debate to the max.

When ICE Administrator Homan says "We're not stopping. I don't care what the judges think." - that is exactly the evidence that I would want if I were bringing a contempt motion against him.

The contempt is clear. I do not know what the court's response will be - and there are only bad choices.
