We have been threatened with a plan to replace ACA for a decade & somehow the Trump admin doesn’t have the intellect or will to manage it. Of course universal healthcare would solve the problem but that would be intelligent & efficient. Anathema to the Trump admin, opposed to both adjectives.
Yeah, taking the affordable care act away altogether is going to be really popular.

I worked for my (red) state in a role related to child welfare. The directive was, not to be judgy about food. All food was good food: ramen, lucky charms, Cheetos. If the kids aren’t hungry, they’re fed. It’s the calories. That’s why ppl buy what they buy if in poverty

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
