I'd be shocked if I ever said anything useful.
Its always useful to remind ourselves that the Constitution and laws passed by Congress are the rules by which we allow the Executive branch/Trump regime to manage the country. When the Trump regime does what it wants instead of what we allow it to do and we don’t stop it then there are no rules.

What are the latest odds on Trump stroking out in an apoplectic rage before he can pardon all the minions depending on his get-out-of-jail-free cards?

What will that level of panic and keening wailing look like? Will popcorn and drinks be available?

My right side is absolutely killing me

You need an appendectomy

How much is that

Umm … $47,285

How much without the anesthesia

Ok we can do that for $36,210

I don’t think so

What’s it going to take to get you into this OR today

I’m going to shop around

Hold on, my manager is coming over
TRUMP: We’re going to give Americans the money to buy health insurance

REPORTER: But won’t they buy it from
Insurance companies?

TRUMP: Ahhh. Some may. I mean they’ll be negotiating prices

The people doing dark deeds depending on Trump’s pardon ability are also implicitly depending on Vance’s pardoning them when Trump is gone and also depending on Democrats *never* having any power, anywhere, to come after them. Not a statistician but that’s gotta be very VERY low probability.

You would think that the 8 GOP Senators who are SO OUTRAGED that Jack Smith subpoenaed their phone records that they want $1 million compensation would bring him in to testify IN A PUBLIC HEARING to explain why he did this. But no, they don’t want to do that. I wonder why?

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

You gotta wonder why Democrats thought it necessary to cave at nearly midnight on a Sunday of a holiday weekend. Because the optics are shit.
BREAKING

The 1st Circuit REJECTS Trump DOJ's request to pause a judge's order to pay up Nov's SNAP funds to the states.

The SCOTUS stay will expire within 48 hours absent further action from the justices, per its terms.

Harm to SNAP recipients, federal workers, and others is real. In a normal democracy it’d make sense to prioritize reducing that harm in the short term.

In a rapidly backsliding democracy, harm is happening no matter what. Preventing authoritarian consolidation is the most harm-reducing move.
two contradictory ideas that i hold in my head at the same time: 1) i think the threat to both SNAP recipients and federal workers is significant enough now that even bad deals are worth making to prevent further harm, and, 2) everyone who caves now should retire in shame

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Under similar extrapolation it seems like they could make more money just making the cars and robots and giving them away to every adult in the US, especially if they grow the supercharger network to match.

If the Tesla board thinks Elon is worth $1T of Tesla's future money, couldn't they have found 10 people worth $100B each for some sort of cabal? Or one thousand people worth $1B each?

Or a million people they could pay $1M each to?

How are we 10 years into this, and people as smart as Mehdi don't get that Trump doesn't lie to be believed?

He lies to be repeated.

Trump gets how brains work better than his opponents, and he gets how this association slurs all immigrants. And then he gets immigrants he despises to spread it!
The president of the United States thinks asylum-seekers come from mental asylums.

He says it in almost every interview where the topic of migration comes up.

How is this not 25th Amendment territory? How is he not an embarrassment to this entire country?

No, CBS will not settle any lawsuits against them that people may bring for editing out over half of Trump’s interview since none of you are in a position of power to approve their merger with any other media companies.
