This is my 17th year doing this.. Some hits!

2010: Boycotted NBC from the day Conan signed off until the day Jeff Zucker was fired

2019: News breaks that Quentin Tarantino is working on a Star Trek movie. Which is great news if you’ve ever wanted to see Uhura’s feet.

Gave the dog trazadone to deal with storms last night. 5AM: Drugged up dog walks around, tries to get in a closet and wanders around, stoned and uncomfortable. I eventually got her to go out, which was what she needed, and she immediately started snoring after coming back in. I haven't slept since.

I've finished my annual year in review write up... and didn't add a few things that I know would cause more waves amongst the family than they would amongst my Internet friends. 1 is about the horrific xmas gift a couple of days ago

Knives out: the upper middle class are squabbling vicious children who do not deserve their inheritance

Glass onion: the new elite are the stupidest murderous cunts alive and deserve your scorn

Wake up dead man: those preaching anger as salvation are leading you to death, hope and kindness matter

Recommendation Time!

The Wayfinder, by Adam Johnson is really as good as all the lists say.

But I can only read like 30-50 pages at a time. The setting and the style makes me have to sit with it a chapter at a time. I'm only halfway through it and dreading the day I finish it.

Reading & writing has kept me alive this year.

Somehow, it’s been my most productive year as an author.

Dragonlance Chronicles, by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.

The Sparrow, by Mary Doris Russell.
OK, less contentious post:

You've been placed in charge of a movie studio, and have an unlimited budget to adapt any work of your choosing that has never been made into a live-action TV series or film. What are you picking?

For me: PC Hodgell's Kencyrath Cycle and there's no close second

For Christmas I hunted down and purchased a 200 year old printing of a nearly 300 year old book by an ancestor for my father.

My step-mother got me an AI generated monstrosity from “BookByAnyone”dotcom.

Never has there been a more perfect encapsulation of my familial relationships

One of the earliest-ever modern portrayals of Santa Claus features him gifting Union soldiers with a jumping-jack doll of Jefferson Davis dangling from a noose - as drawn by political cartoonist Thomas Nast.

We mostly opted out of christmas gifts this year, but I did pick one thing up I can't wait to give to my dad.

This is the guy that lived in the house in Quaker country (PA/MD border) that I visited back in October. He was my 9th generation uncle, his house was built my great(x6) grandfather.
