Finally catching up on Starfleet Academy, and as someone for whom Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Runaways were extremely formative? This show is so entirely my shit.

another tease for my semi-mini-comic as syllabus for my Superheroes class. A statement about the heart of the course, and I really love this passage from Saunders "The wish that things were otherwise." Onward!

23) VTM: Night Road - @moochava.bsky.social's been tearing it up in the text adventure space, delivering one of my top-three Choice Of games along with Affairs of the Court and Tin Star. It's also the closest we'll get to Bloodlines 2, all high court and low life in a way that understands the job.

This is the thing, right?

Even the most conservative old head who grew up with TOS or TNG wouldn't think that giving Shatner control of Star Trek is a good idea. I'm sure they'd have a lot of equally awful ideas, but that just wouldn't be one of them. It's almost like Miller's a grifting poser...
"Give William Shatner complete control of Star Trek!"

We tried that once. We got Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Arguably the biggest embarrassment of the entire franchise.
I wish I could beam decades of historic gay star trek fanfic straight into Goebbel Juniors shiny racist pate. He's such a fucking chode.

Is it a good sign for a presidential administration when you walk into a meeting at your job and the pre meeting chit chat is about how awful ICE is? Asking for a friend.

I was worried it was going to be Wesley Crusher² - but Star Trek: Starfleet Academy won me over and is a well-timed pop-culture defence of studying the humanities (and Klingonities, and Vulcanities, etc...) www.theglobeandmail.com/culture/film...

Starring Holly Hunter, the new spin-off series makes a strong first impression on Paramount+ this week

This was the first Animorphs book I ever picked up, mostly cause I think sharks are incredibly cool.

I didn't know that @kaaauthor.bsky.social was gonna take me on a formative Sci fi journey, all I knew was, "Shark!". If it weren't for Mattingly, I would never have started.

Thank you, sir!
I did flipbooks for all of the Animorphs covers I did, but they appeared in black and white and very small, so I am posting them here so you can see them large and in color. No AI here--just Elastic Reality and painting. You can buy a signed print of this cover here:

Reminder that years ago it was found out that the FBI straight up made up a whole bunch of fake forensic sciences, plural. People have gone to jail and been executed due to literally pseudoscience.

Hair forensics, for instance, is totally nonsense.

They admitted it.

Sir Terry Pratchett is best understood as one of the most interesting, deeply ethical practical (I would say Pragmatist but I cede to actual experts) philosophers of the late 20th Century who just happened to work in deconstructed fantasy literature as his medium.
