"Autism isn't an excuse."

No it's not. It's an explanation.

"No. You're using it as an excuse. You should have known the thing you did was unacceptable."

Except I didn't. And I'm explaining why.

Stop Making Monica Lewinsky jokes. That woman was a victim too. It’s not funny or necessary.

Let Monica rest.
The world owes her an apology if anything.

Any time I visit a national park, I make sure to email the hotel I stayed at afterward to ask them to invest in dark sky lighting. Light pollution is easily fixable.
Lots of folks captioning aurora photos like "for a few minutes we didn't think about politics"

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

Grateful to spend two days on the Klamath watching chinook, liberated by dam removal, return to streams from which they’d been precluded since the Titanic sank. Fish are everywhere, in numbers that stagger the mind & locations that biologists figured would take years to repopulate. Too beautiful.

Autism is a social disability
It's also a sensory disability

What it isn't is an empathy disability
Or a rigidity disability
Or an intellectual disability

Breaking this one down because not all of this is self explanatory...

I can't* believe folks are still out here a week into this trying to say that everyone has to prove Platner isn't worthy to be a US Senator.

Nah, y'all. It's a job 100 people out of the ~350 million in this country can have at one time. He has to prove he is worthy and MOST PEOPLE CAN NOT.

*I can

When you support Xerces, you are directly contributing to building more pollinator habitat, reducing pesticide use, surveying for rare species, helping people everywhere learn about invertebrates, & more. From the bugs (and us) to you, THANK YOU! 💖🦋

My extremely lukewarm take is that contemporary normative Islam and contemporary normative rabbinic Judaism have way more in common with each other than the latter has with Christianity and particularly American Protestantism.
I am always bummed when I see Islamaphobia coming from the Jewish community. Every conversation I have had about religion with a Muslim colleague or friend has only highlighted our similarities or deepened my understanding of our shared stories.

This is my favorite skull art I've done myself. It's a speculative physiology sculpture of a living-dead coyote.

It's also ok to be disabled and to be noticeably disabled in public without giving people explanations or awareness lessons everywhere you go.

It's a wide world. People don't need to know everything about everyone.

If it's important to *them* to say "trick or treat", that's one thing. But it's not something that adults need to *make* important.

It's ok if people communicate in multiple modes and that sometimes context is one of them!

I think clinicians and educators are kind of overthinking AAC for trick-or-treat, TBH.

A kid who is wearing a costume on Halloween and coming up to a door with a treat bag is already communicating very clearly. It's ok if they can't actually say the words "trick or treat!".

If being against a guy with a Nazi tattoo makes me a purist I guess I'm an anti-Nazi purist. If you think that makes me an anti-Nazi single issue voter, you're wrong, but also it's a pretty good single issue.

There is more than a year. Go get another real progressive who doesn't have a Nazi tattoo.

Okay wait we're doing this "but there's no other options!" dance for an election in *November 2026*???

I'm reasonably sure we can find a progressive in Maine in the next year who doesn't have a Nazi tattoo. Like, 95% sure.

Why are we even having this conversation at all. This entire conversation should just be “fuck this guy” and then we all go on with our lives confident in the fact that we kept another Nazi out of office.

Really hate having to do this regular reminder.

Anyway this is why you shouldn’t refer to ANY Jew as a lizard person or a reptile no matter how horrible they are.

Regular reminder that the “reptilian” people masquerading as human conspiracy theory is antisemitism and when they say reptilian they mean Jew who is a non-human that secretly controls the world.
It's hard to tell if Clay Higgins earnestly believes in the reptilian conspiracy theory (that powerful people are actually giant reptiles wearing human suits) or if this is just petty trolling, but it's so fucking weird that this is where we're at as a country

It's also the reason for a lot of CPU overheating..🙃

When politicians discuss autism, pay attention to who they say they’re helping. You’ll find it’s almost always “families” or “parents of kids with autism,” rather than #autistic people ourselves. Their primary concern is the burden we supposedly impose on others. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

If I had explain American history in one sentence, I could do worse than "John Brown was hung for treason, but Robert E. Lee was not."
John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry began on this day in 1859.
