just kind of thinking about the fact the nyt sent a breaking news alert when a college kid said something dumb about Zionists but not when Amnesty International said it had determined that Israel is committing genocide
this newspaper has lost its goddamn mind

for context NYC offered a $10k reward for any critical information about the homocide which is about the cost of a single 15 minute ambulance ride after UnitedHealthcare denies coverage bc the EMTs responding to the call were out of network
As police hunted for the missing gunman in a fatal “targeted attack” on the CEO of UnitedHealthcare in Manhattan on Wednesday morning, social media erupted with contempt for the health insurance industry he represented—and his company in particular:
Americans Have Little Sympathy for Murdered Health Insurance Exec
Americans expressed virtually no sympathy for the apparently targeted killing of UnitedHealthcare's CEO by mystery gunman in New York.

Force, when used by the people, is called "violence" and "terror." When used by the powerful, it is called "law enforcement" and "policy."

The reward out for the person who shot United Healthcare's CEO isn't even enough to cover 1/9 of the bill we got for 28 days of radiation.

I really can’t believe that this has to be repeated, endlessly, and even then some folks can’t grasp it
Even if Hamas did 100% of what Israelis say they did, that's not justification to bomb and starve a civilian population for weeks on end.

Greensboro residents flooded city council this week demanding a resolution for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. These are just a few speakers of dozens who came to make this simple demand.

At bare minimum, Council must voice solidarity with the people of Palestine!

visited the museum of communism in prague and it was fun to see all the anti-communist tropes in one place, like how bad it was that the state built a lot of housing

"Many accounts that Israeli airstrikes last night were among the most intense yet. The death toll now stands at 5,087, including 2,055 children and 15,273 wounded. An additional 1,500 are reported missing and buried under rubble, including 830 children. How to comprehend?"

Hey folks. WHOA has an emergency and is in desperate need of community support. Our SUV just broke down. It needs an engine replacement, and we’re looking at upwards of $6,000 in equipment and labor costs to get the car working again.

This past distro we noticed a new sign at the park. It includes a long list of prohibitions targeted at houseless people and those who seek to help them. The capitalist class and city government are clearly looking for a way to stop us and further persecute the working class.

I’ve spent much of the last year examining car bloat, the process through which smaller vehicles are being replaced by increasingly massive SUVs and trucks.

What I’ve learned: Huge cars are terrible for society, often in ways that are hidden.

Another distro day—in 90º heat. It’s rough out there right now so we’re bringing out all the coolers of water we can fit in our vehicles along with the usual snacks and hygiene supplies.

Water pickup! Every time, people start taking water off our cart thinking the store is using it for restocking lol

Extra mid-week water drops in summer are part of how we are gradually and continually expanding our work to meet the clearly growing needs in the community.

Some people are going to think this is the result of Republican anti-homeless policies. But the reality is that Texas relies on long-term, affordable housing whereas California invests in temporary shelters. The answer to houselessness is housing.

Climate change is driving rising temperatures and record heat. The Earth’s temperature has risen each decade since 1880 by about .14 degrees Fahrenheit, or 2 degrees Fahrenheit total.

Distro this weekend! We gave out snack bags, water, and hygiene supplies around town.

Had an incident with one of our regulars downtown smoking weed and security threatening to call the cops, but we deescalated well and he didn’t call them.

Remember, we keep each other safe!
