I don't tend to do this often, but it's a new year, so here's a new self-introduction. #promosky
I'm Devlin Burgess, 28 years old, cis male (he/him), straight, white as a sheet. Recent graduate from Grad School, military historian, new to social media. American, lives in Oregon in the Portland Area.
I've said similarly before, but my (only) real statement on the continuing Epstein mess (aside from a reminder that the *victims* should be getting more support) is that we've all spent *way* too long treating "elites" as cold Machiavellian operators driven only by greed and power. No one is. /1

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

Closing in on the final third of Persona 3 Reload now. While I think the new version improves the team chemistry significantly, I'm...still not sold on how Shinjiro and Ken's big event plays out, or it's aftermath. It doesn't help that the player is still basically uninvolved in the whole thing.

A whole new market for Valve to inconsistently censor. Now you can get called a bitch by angry Russians from the comfort of your TV room.
Valve is making a console. The Steam Machine, a sleek box with the guts of a mid-range PC that runs SteamOS, will arrive in early 2026. Prices TBD, but unlike the failed Steam Machine initiative from a decade ago, this is Valve's own device. Big news www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

I have been....quite tired and dispirited lately, so I apologize that I haven't been posting as much as I wish I was. I will try to rectify that a bit more (and do another round of looking for people to follow, I am still far too picky.)

So, for Thanksgiving (the worst of the end-of-year holidays), my family haven't decided on anything for dinner yet, but we did come around to the idea of baking a cake for desert, which we haven't done in forever.
Anybody have any cake recipes they particularly like?

People are complaining about this, because of course they are, it's mandatory ro be tedious about Bethesda on the internet, but! It's gotten increasingly difficult to play the full versions of 3 and New Vegas on console (Like how PS5 Streaming doesn't include the DLC) so this seems reasonable to me.
'Fallout 3' remaster is reportedly in the works at Bethesda ☢️

I've been seeing this headline floating around. To be clear:

1) This is "No. 1" on a miniscule chart, The "Country Digital Song Sales" chart, as in people actually paying money to download country songs which is a tiny amount of people

2) The actual consumers are almost certainly fake

Skyrim is a game that has grown on me immensely over the years. The first time I played it, as a teenager, I genuinely didn't like it. But as I've gotten older and have seen many games try to replicate it's success, my appreciation for what it does well has steadily grown. /1

Lavrov is essentially saying: screw peace, Russia wants to keep invading Ukraine.

No one, including him, can define what “denazification” even means. And Ukrainians will never demilitarize again, not after it led to a Russian invasion the last time we did. He knows it.

As someone with *very* mixed feelings about his period of Japanese cinema, I will still always stand by Harakiri as a complete success, and Tatsuya's performance is a big part of that. I enjoyed his acting much more than Mifune's even in films I didn't like. He'll be missed.
Farewell to one of brightest stars of the golden age of Japanese cinema: Nakadai Tatsuya, who starred in some of history's greatest films, has passed away at the age of 92. Major roles included those in Ran, Hara Kiri, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Kagemusha, The Human Condition, and many more.

The bigger one, aiming for the Society of Military History, is ready to start.
The smaller one is History in Pop Culture paper aiming for American Historical Society. /1

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.
