Manga Number 33: Mansect
Well, that was a 70s horror manga alright. Lots of body horror, characters that all look the same, awkward dialog, dissatisfaction with society, being *really weird* about women.
Also, despite the title, the whole *insect/man hybrid* thing is pretty inconsistent.

Man, someone on Atlus' writing staff *really* hates cars. Persona 3,4 and 5 has a character get killed in a car accident in a backstory, and now both SMTV and P3R have their Chaos aligned characters lecturing about how many people die in car accidents each year. What an odd through-line.

The weakest point of #Persona3 has probably always been it's Social Links, a lot of which are genuinely bad, but there are a few that are interesting or consequential. Poor Maiko here is one. Child abuse is hard to overcome even when you have support, and Japan has a pretty poor track record there.

Honorable mentions go to Disco Elysium and Baldur's Gate 3 for being good enough to not make me *completely* give up on CRPGs, but it'll take a lot more like them to solidify that.

God of War was the first really violent game I ever played after years of being squeamish and prudish and looking down on people who played those sorts.

I'm still hacking away at #Persona3Reload, and so far, while there are definite improvements across the board (no more getting sick or tired, thank YHVH), the Social Links still tend to be pretty weak. Kenji here is really testing my will to live-fitting enough for this game's theme.

I bring this up because tonight, I am starting up #Persona3Reload, and despite my....sacrilegious feeling towards FES, I am genuinely rooting for this version to win me over. Will Tartarus still be really boring? Will I still only care for the dog, the robot and the IT girl? I'm hoping for the best.

This was a pleasant suprise! At first it seemed like a pretty typical "realistic" dark fantasy, y'know the type, very cynical and immature. But there's more to this one than first appears. Visualizing the music is a great idea for a music based story.
