Just googled the Trump hand IV theory, and learned that during a state dinner in 1992, George HW Bush keeled over in his seat and vomited into the lap of the Japanese prime minister. Yes there is video. Yes I'm including it here.

seems like a good day to tap the "support independent, worker run, local media" sign
“The New York Times collaborated with a white nationalist eugenicist hacker and agreed to keep his identity a secret to publish a Zohran Mamdani hit piece” is a way bigger story than “18 year old Zohran Mamdani ticked ‘African American’ on his Columbia application because he was a citizen of Uganda”

It's too on the nose that the NYT piece about the restaurant term "86" only interviewed a lexicologist and then almost completely mischaracterized its use despite one coauthor being their former food critic of 12 years.

Style note for anyone reporting on Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, the word is "illegally" deported. It was not an oopsie. It was not a mistake.

The NYT is a rag, but the bright spot of their coverage of Trump's second go-round is the photo editors publishing pictures like this one. (Instead of finding the most flattering picture imaginable and calling it unbiased reporting).

If true, @schumer.senate.gov should resign. Defend Article I or get out.
Same goes for @schatz.bsky.social who I think should know better given his public statements. And @durbin.senate.gov who could have Pritzker send someone with a spine.
If true, just leave.

Don't take this as gospel. It's not official. It's a very knowledgable source's best understanding of the situation. This persons likely Yeses on cloture are. Schumer, Hassan, Peters, Durbin, Schatz, King, Shaheen, Fetterman, Cortez Masto and Gillibrand.

As we all know, whiffing is that thing in baseball where you watch the ball go by and don't swing at it.
You sized up the pitch and decided it posed an existential threat to democracy, but you'd probably get a strike. So you encourage the crowd to vote blue next election instead.

they don't know what to do because they think winning elections is their job. if they had substantive ideals that they fought for, and winning elections was merely an instrument for achieving those ends, they'd know exactly what to do. they don't even realize this is a problem.
give us a bit of time we've only had three months to prepare! it's not like Trump is a known quantity or that we were handed a complete roadmap for everything ahead in the form of a handy book of policy intentions they released like monologuing villains
“We’re obviously in a bit of disarray,” a Democratic senator told Semafor. “I don’t think people are really completely sure about what lesson is to be learned in this election.”
“Give us a little time,” Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin also said. “This is brand new.”

I don't know why I bother, but I just read the @nytimes.com blurbs from 6 voters about their reactions to Trump 2.0. Four voted Trump. One voted third party, and one voted Harris.
The NYT calls that diverse. In reality, the editors were just fetishizing voters who switch parties.
