A new resident at Papworth Towers is 2 year old rescue, Sadie. After 3 months without a dog in the house it's great to have some Springer Spaniel chaos again.

Taking a roundabout route to Burnley from Todmorden today.

A quality of Bathams Bitter and cheese & onion cob at the Great Western, Wolverhampton definitely an improvement on a dismal performance by Burnley at Villa Park this afternoon.

It was great to catch up with Rob, Pete and Phil who I shared a house with when we were at Swansea University from 1973 - 1976. It's only taken 49 years for us all to get together again!

Cracking views from Orrest Head, Windermere today. Now it's time for a pint.

Oktoberfest starts @teamutopian.bsky.social Exeter bar Arcadia with the tapping of a pitch-lined wooden barrel of Fest Märzen - Prost!

A few pics from the top of the Forth Bridge. That full Scottish breakfast didn't seem like such a good idea going up in the hoist.

Just about to be taken up to the viewing platform at the top of the north pier. I'll try not to drop the phone into the Firth of Forth.

That's a proper Scottish breakfast! I can feel a coronary coming on just looking at it.

Having a nostalgic crawl around some of my favourite Edinburgh pubs from the 90's and noughties when I was actually working for a living. It was a tough gig being despatched up here but somebody had to do it.

Just setting off to Edinburgh via a circuitous route taking in some epic scenery via Warrington, Lancaster, Long Preston (4 minute connection) Settle and Carlisle. What can possibly go wrong?

Today we said farewell to our beautiful Maisy. She was a pain in the bum at times but was a gentle soul who was a massive part of our lives for over fifteen years. We will miss her so much.

Well done to Dirty Leeds for winning the Championship but a magificent season for the Clarets
33 undefeated
Only side to reach 100 points and not win the league.
An entire season unbeaten at home
Not conceded more than 1 goal in a game
16 goals conceded all season
Equalled the clean sheets record

Time to celebrate a 5 - 0 away win for Burnley FC at QPR with a pint in the excellent Queen's Head, King's Cross.

New Chester pub - The Station Tap, soft opening tonight. Looks decent.

What better way to celebrate a hard fought win for the mighty Burnley FC at Coventry than pint of Bathams Bitter and a pork bap at the Great Western at Wolverhampton.

I wouldn't normally repost something that features in the Torygraph but this is an excellent article by Laura Hadland which mentions the very quaffable Turncoat a New England IPA from Kelsall based Weetwood Brewery.

The day had been going very well until some knobs on the train started singing Swing Low Sweet Chariot. Fucking hate that song.

The massed ranks of @bellowhead.bsky.social making a very agreeable racket at Liverpool Philharmonic tonight. They really are a brilliant live band.

Delighted to be back in @pelliclemag.com, tackling the wonder and wizardry of barley malting. You probably don’t know as much about the bedrock of beer as you think you do - I certainly didn’t. But if you love beer, please give it a read. This is more important than your favourite hop variety.
