I remember doing an interview with @patrickklepek.bsky.social and @austinwalker.bsky.social at that show, lovely conversation about how the only reason cyberpunk went away was because of the surge in optimism from the Clinton era, which was by 2018 long over, and the cracks were showing again.

Given the rate of acceleration and the speed at which culture can shift, if your game takes longer than a year to develop you shouldn't try to design around current trends or vibes. Don't try to capture the moment cause you'll miss it. Make a good story and setting you have confidence in.
