So many retrospectives on why Harris (narrowly) lost in '24. One factor little-mentioned was moderate voters' objection to the activist climate/environmental movement. I'm a Dem & support action on this but I'm aware a LOT of voters disliked any "coercive" climate policies, grouping it w/"wokeness."

As a Philadelphia native, I recall the MOVE incident in W Phila 40 yrs ago. Police action was needed, but things unfolded in a terrible miscalculation.

You know that whole "when fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross" bit? Well, Huss, an ordained Foursquare minister who believed America belonged only to white Christian people and was OR GOP chair in 1978-9, was pretty much the embodiment of that.

Huss & his wife attended LIFE Bible College in LA (the school attached to Angelus Temple) from 1946 to 1950 when it was a hotbed of Christian Identity theology. That connection was so important to them that in the 1990s, when they had little money, they endowed a scholarship at the school.

Something unfortunate: I grew up in & like rural areas. In the northern states they were usually Repub but reasonable. But since the Tea Party, then MAGA, they're far more bitter, resentful and in-your-face.
