As a Philadelphia native, I recall the MOVE incident in W Phila 40 yrs ago. Police action was needed, but things unfolded in a terrible miscalculation.

I recall 1970s commentators celebrating a "New South" emerging w/the election of forward-looking pols like Lawton Chiles & Jimmy Carter, the era of performatively stupid, clownish reactionaries was over. Now we have Tuberville, & they were sadly WRONG.
