History professor, Delaware & Lehigh Valley native, "tri-racial," transit & rail fan, there's more... "Diversity can be our strength IF we have a unifying national story tying us together."
I think the point about technology linking these conspiracy-theory reactionaries far more efficiently is spot-on. And there are such continuities between alienated white-supremacist reactionaries from the late (or early) 1940s down to today.

I think we DON'T want to have a public street confrontation in DC. At this point, the general public would turn against "forces of disorder" more than against the current admin.

You know that whole "when fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross" bit? Well, Huss, an ordained Foursquare minister who believed America belonged only to white Christian people and was OR GOP chair in 1978-9, was pretty much the embodiment of that.

Huss & his wife attended LIFE Bible College in LA (the school attached to Angelus Temple) from 1946 to 1950 when it was a hotbed of Christian Identity theology. That connection was so important to them that in the 1990s, when they had little money, they endowed a scholarship at the school.

Check out Smith's 10 tenets of Christian Nationalism ca. 1949. Given that this document is 75+ years old, it's notable how much it resonates with the rhetoric and policy preferences of the Trumpian GOP. bsky.app/profile/seth...
"The Creed of Christian Nationalism" as explained by Gerald LK Smith in the September 1949 edition of The Cross and The Flag. If you substitute "woke" or "radical leftists" or "cultural marxists" for "Jews" in this text, the persistence of this political world view will be pretty apparent.
