BBC Visual Radio Producer. Making TV about movies for the radio. My opinions, obviously. He/him. http://djnite.co.uk
I was outside the on-air studio at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Norwich. Dave Grohl and Pat Smear show up, and I told them the presenter was just doing a link, but they could go in in a minute, so Dave grins and wanders off.

Me to Pat: "Is he always like this?"

Pat, taking a drag on his ciggy: "Yeah."
One of my academic colleagues looks a bit like Bob Mortimer. One time near our labs I saw him walking towards me and I warmly said Hey Kevin. It was Bob Mortimer.

Please share your very low impact celebrity encounters here.
Fun low level anecdote: I once sat near Peter Mandelson in a theatre but I had a name blank and said rather too loudly ‘ooh look it’s Michael Portillo!’

He was visibly unamused.

If you've got a Switch 1 or 2 and kids/good taste, a whole bunch of the Lego games are heavily (80-90%) discounted now on the online Nintendo games catalogue. They're all very fun and immensely playable.

There’s a Guy Works Down the Chip Shop Swears He’s Elvis by Kirsty MacColl. It isn’t trying to be clever or arch or whimsical. It’s just a great song about a guy who works down the chip shop and swears he’s Elvis (amongst other things).
Deleted a post about “what’s your least favorite song” because the vibes are bad enough already.

Instead: what’s your favorite song that has a long title, say at least 6 words long?

Mine: “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam)

Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of praise for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. It's a brutal film to watch, but there's real depth and feeling. The performances are phenomenal. It delivers on every level. As a zombie flick, it's completely its own thing. Possibly the best of the franchise.

Been served an ad for the 60th Anniversary tour of Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys… whose only original member is Mike Love… who didn’t like or understand Pet Sounds… soundtracked by ‘Barbara-Ann’… a song which isn’t on Pet Sounds. Perfect.

It’s so funny that this guy’s entire thing is “Oh are you triggered by what I have to say about marginalized people” but he loses it when someone more well-liked than he will ever be talks about an actual injustice

Like watching the Mona Lisa being painted.
Italian voice actor Carlo Bononi was the voice of all of the characters on Pingu. A trained clown by trade, he used a theater technique called grammelot, which consists of "speaking" in a mix of babbled gibberish noises. He improvised all the voices live and unscripted.

The bad news is that I mix up my postcode and my car’s registration a worrying amount.

The good news is that my entire neighbourhood is now fine to park in Waitrose car park in Burgess Hill for the next hour.

I often think of bands that get gifted the title of "legends" or "elder statesmen of rock", but it's usually simply the ones who somehow managed to stay together for 20 odd years without trying to kill each other and just keep banging out the same album over and over every couple of years.
Natural talent is nothing compared to the ability to keep making shit long after everyone else has given up
