Currently a librarian of some sort in the corporate world 💼 Historian in training. Headstrong Aries. Views are my own.
Is it a good sign that my letters to the editors are being published in my local paper though? Because this month it’s been 2/2 ☺️

Haven’t been on here in a while but I wanted a space to share that I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since I’ve finished my dissertation and now I am finishing writing up a paper expanding on it. Idk where or if it’ll even end up anywhere but here’s to manifesting it does 🥹✨

You know the saying about how it libraries didn't already exist, there's no way we would create them now because it would be seen as """socialist"""? Same with the post office. If it goes away, they will never bring it back

What people don’t realize is that you don’t HAVE to watch that thing, you can just read.

Tuning inward to local news more lately. I love seeing what’s happening in my community. Why have I not done this sooner?

support archives and archivists sufficiently in times of normal operation so we can do our jobs in times of crisis. read about ongoing efforts before your library of alexandria comparisons. respect the expertise of people who have been doing the work. fund permanent archival and preservation labor.

I guess timing is everything. I've posted links to this doc the White House dropped on 1.19.2025. It was removed the next day. I shared on Threads again today & it is finally picking up traction. This is how we rebuild. The National Resilience Strategy begins with community.

The Department of Education said the memo calling for a broad pause on federal spending did not apply to federal student loans or Pell grants. That money will continue to flow, the statement said
Federal Spending Freeze Does Not Apply to Student Loans and Pell Grants (Gift Article)
Students and parents panicked after news of the order, but the Education Department said the guidance would not stop the flow of money to students and schools.

I cannot express how much joy I feel about DeepSeek exposing the ugly part of Silicon Valley/the truth about AI. Seeing this all play out is 🤭

now that DeepSeek has completed AI, we hope that Silicon Valley will turn its attention to the next best thing: investing in rural history museums

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Also, came back to see academics following me so 👋🏼 I’ve recently graduated with my MSc but I already miss school so.. it looks like I will live vicariously through you all while I still contemplate getting a PhD 😅

It’s been a while since I’ve been on here and it feels livelier? Just feels lighter over here too, than the dark side..

#AHA24 was a fantastic conference and it’s a shame I couldn’t be in multiple places at once 😅 Hoping for sessions to be recorded in the future! 🤞🏼Either way, what a great way to start the year.

Wrapped up #AHA24 and of course I couldn’t leave without some books from the expo hall 🤭 Also, my tote from @ihr.bsky.social came in handy to hold all these books! 😉

Really enjoyed the session “Reading Beyond the Text: Expanding our Methodological Approaches to the Past” because it helped me go back to my film and visual culture roots in asking the right questions - esp. even within text which I still struggle with - to dig deeper. #AHA24

“Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and the Future of History” was such an enlightening panel. I now dread generative AI and the future less; all it took were historians to put things into context to help put my mind at ease. My favorite session today! #AHA24

Really enjoyed my first day at AHA, and I look forward to more sessions in the next couple of days! This marks my first in-person conference back since CLA in 2019, but I think I’ve learned well from past SAA and SCA conferences.. in not overwhelming myself!
