Books 13 and 14 of 2025 - two very different tellings of a classic human story. There is diamond-level poetry in “Liars” that I need to run back through and highlight for the ages.

Book No.12 of 2025 - it was good to read this in the few days after it was released on 9/9, and while traveling. Witnessing recovery is a gift, and as such I am honored. Liz told on Liz unexpectedly, thoroughly, and without guile. An important voice in a dark time.

I was going to do a crop of this brazen capitalism from Associated Press, but decided not sharing all of my phone screen would be the worst crime since Cain slew Abel.

Book No.8 of 2025. A brilliant non-fiction work from the author of “The Fault in Our Stars”, a cross-section of the vast shaping of human experience by a persistent bacterium, and a poignant hero’s journey. I started recommending it after the first chapter.

I do think American politics has been corrupted by consumerism and toxic individualism. Withholding our vote unless we have been properly marketed to and courted is not how this is supposed to work. Voting is our civic duty. Defending our democracy is our civic duty as American citizens.
People need to stop seeing themselves as consumers who need to be courted and see themselves as citizens who govern a country. Your vote isn't a gift to a politician; it's your voice and choice for the kind of society you want to live in. Someone will be president. Use your power or lose it.

Turns out my podcast-listening life is not in the downturn I thought it was now that I know @harvilla.bsky.social is bringing my favorite show back on 4/30. That’s only 15 sleeps away.

Dropping the new Severance episodes on Thursdays is such a choice 🤌🏻 Somebody at Apple is really making my week. I wish there was an episode of Severance at the end of every 10hr workday of the year.

Yesterday, I used the term: 'platform nomadic', a helpful frame for me around social media. All these businesses can change directions. It might be more beneficial to imagine they are caravans we join for a season or two when they are moving in the right direction for us. 1/2
