I've heard the words "he was a complicated man" in a couple of instances these last days and basically what that means is "I had a lot of inter-generational trauma and hurt to unpack in therapy because he wouldn't or couldn't."

I think this post nails the actual problem, for researchers at least—AI hallucinations would simply not be a problem in academic work if we’d not normalized citation-as-signaling rather than actual engagement—you can only cite a fake paper if you’re not in the habit of reading the papers you cite

I’ve seen two kids post that the Brown University shooting is the second school shooting they’ve survived.
This should enrage and radicalize everyone.
Kids shouldn’t have to survive one shooting, let alone two.
