Tweenage me loved The Rock and, for decades, I was convinced that it was the one good Michael Bay movie. Then I saw it again.

... Why do none of the first 20 or so replies say we should get rid of the child predator? I thought this was an easy one!

Alito absolutely knows the difference between withdrawing from the petition and withdrawing from the case (if not, he shouldn't be on the bench!). He understood Burlington still had an interest, he just didn't want to recuse. It seems he is only doing so now because he got called out in briefing.

Agreed. Still loads of fun, but he's boring.

What's so hilariously stupid about Jain's statement is, if someone takes controversial stands and still manages to win (this isn't moneyball, WAR doesn't matter), that makes them a good politician. They're maximizing the utility of their office, not their electoral success.
when we said “defer electoral strategy to the actual politicians running for actual offices” we meant “after calculating wins above replacement somehow”

Many schools don't permit Connor and Brayden to get out of the car 100 feet away for safety and efficiency readons. The line is a pain, but the alternative is cars stopping in unpredictable places to let their young children out--sometimes into the road, sometimes needing to cross the street.

Just watched it tonight and searched Bluesky to see if anyone else had the same reaction to it--glad to see I'm in good company! Her reactions to realizing that she wasn't pregnant anymore and to seeing BB for the first time brought me to tears, and her intensity sells the whole thing

I am convinced that a West Wing reboot would make tons of money
The discourse has gotten distorted because of where Dem politics was on (pick an issue) at the timeframe it was made, but viewed through that lens a West Wing made today identically except the foundational politics have been updated for the median normie Dem in 2025 would go extremely hard lol

If you think it means the idea that Congress can't constitutionally delegate legislative authority to the executive (that is, create agencies under the executive branch), then yes, it's what you think it means.
