Der Überzieher has a brilliant structure. Most of the song is in 32 bar AABB form, but when it gets frantic at the end it gets stuck on the B part until the end of the song. Really fun effect which is played for laughs.

Speaking of cabaret. This one’s in German, from the economic misery of the 1930s. A man buys an expensive coat. The shopkeeper warns him it will be stolen if it leaves his sight. He develops neurosis and can’t enjoy food and beer. He gets a tummy ache at a restaurant and hilarity ensues.

I’m eternally cursed by a song my band started writing 15 years ago but never finished. Woke up with a Great Arrangement in my head. Wish I could torture them with it but we live in different countries.
