Imagine the world if we’d been willing to learn from COVID…

What if we’d embraced WFH to slow climate change?

What if we’d installed filtration systems in public buildings to reduce the spread of illness?

What if we’d demanded disability justice re long COVID?

A better world is still possible.

Thing is, the rise in strokes is not 'Shocking' to anyone paying attention - we are allowing a pandemic virus that we know causes strokes to run riot. It’s not shocking, it’s exactly what you’d expect to happen.

"We have to meet them halfway!"
No, we don't and — more importantly — we can't.
The halfway point between truth and lies isn't some kind of common ground, a shared concession zone where reality applies only a little or just some of the time.
The halfway point between truth and lies is also lies.

"No, I think the moon is made of delicious cheese on which merry lunar gnomes feast."
"That is absurd! The moon-"
"Shh-sh, you two. Enough of your divisiveness! Let's agree that the moon is made of a bitter gorgonzola which morose lunar gnomes eat reluctantly."

The whole resuscitation team was masked.
The parents and visiting family were not.
We are failing these kids.

In several years (if we are still here), people will ask “you knew how to filter air in buildings but you just chose not to and kept getting sick? Even though you filtered water for that reason?” 🤷🏼‍♀️

Wow. A local 28yo woman just died after 2 strokes, a series of seizures, brain herniation due to swelling, and a rare infection. She was apparently happy and healthy 2 months ago. In the Before Times, how rare/common? Not unexpected now? ☹️

I'm the weirdo in the mask creeping in and out via the fire escape stairs trying to keep my anxiety under control.
