I have a lot of time for @mrjamesob.bsky.social but I'm not convinced by this tripartite cult idea. Watching the Starmer hoo-ha, it's a succession of hacks and columnists talking to hacks and columnists desperate for Starmer to resign, like some tedious game we have to suffer, for their amusement

My day has now become a case of me sitting here and worrying about @frmo.bsky.social.

I think there's a name for this. It's the Stockholm Syndrome. I need help.

This is a fascinating project by @theo.io (h/t @sfawcs.bsky.social for spotting it).

Perhaps we just have to accept that dimwits have taken over politics and even more dimwits will always vote for them.

I know this is a minority opinion but block lists have to be one of the worst features of Bluesky. It annoys me when I know I've been blocked for spurious (and unfair) reasons by people who I'd probably like, and with whom I'd align both politically and culturally.

My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.

Okay, who is the clever bugger? This arrived anonymously in the post. I'm not saying the title is right but I think it's the trophy I've always wanted. Thank you to whoever sent this. Now I can retire from the sport knowing my legacy is assured. 😏😆

NEW: Trump's coup is almost complete. And the attack on the press is a central piece of it. Bezos's gutting of the Washington Post cannot be allowed to be just another blip in the news cycle.

We are all going to have to fight for a free and independent press.
