Increasingly convinced that one of the main reasons the "Trump is going to cancel the midterms" meme won't die is because a lot of posting addicts don't want to accept that electoralism is still a necessary condition for beating Trump. It's a perverse sort of wishcasting.
i don't even know why i'm raising this here because i know i'm going to get a hundred replies of "Trump has god powers that will let him do whatever he wants and thus we have no choice but to bend to his will," but for those of you capable of complex thought, these are questions to ask yourself.

I’ve started using the term “ethnic cleansing campaign” to describe the ICE occupation here in Minnesota. Another thing you should know about the Twin Cities, if you're not here, is that while the mayor and governor tell us to stay calm on TV, our council members and other local electeds are on the street patrolling and protecting neighbors, doing mutual aid, and otherwise serving the community.

i think this gets at something important which is that normal people are rightly pissed off that they’re having normal time stolen from them by this ravaging horde of jumped up mall cops. everybody has to work in the morning! why is it THEIR job to hold their community together in such a basic way!

You can't make this shit up. ICE recruitment used AI tools to sort applicants based on experience with law enforcement but fucked it up by including everyone who used the word "officer" in their application as "law enforcement officers"... who didn't require training.

The Times went to non urban Minnesota to ask people why they dislike urban Minneapolis. If someone were to ask me to teach a journalism school course on helicopter reporting, this story - so cliche it’s almost hard to believe they really did this - would immediately go on the syllabus.
