It is kind of wild that no big media outlet has busted open the story of who is making DHS' posts on X. Whoever that may be is certainly plugged into hardcore white supremacist internet propaganda with a harder edge. "Groyper" would be underselling it. This is Daily Stormer-tier sludge.

really cannot be emphasized enough that bari weiss has literally never done journalism. i don’t mean that in the pejorative sense. i mean that in the “has never performed the job she was hired to do” sense
One explanation for Bari killing the story is that she did so as a public act of fealty to the administration. But another is that, as an inexperienced journalist, she doesn’t understand that a refusal to go on the record is a kind of comment in and of itself

This is just so freaking fascist. These people are unapologetic irredeemable Nazis.

Puka Nakua today: “At the time, I had no idea this act was antisemitic in nature and perpetuated harmful stereotypes against Jewish people.”

Uh huh. Right. Sure.

I’m extremely gratified that @polphilpod.bsky.social has so thoroughly appreciated the Cassandra complex that those of us who saw Trumpist fascism coming and were ignored and dismissed by so many of our peers (especially in journalism) have been living with.

This is full-on fascist propaganda that bears an uncanny resemblance to the "Letter Box," a feature of the notorious Nazi newspaper Der Stürmer highlighting lurid accounts of alleged "Jewish crimes."

The beauty of a term like "Americanism" is its vagueness. What American could disagree with promoting "Americanism," right? But it's vagueness is precisely why far right White Christian Nationalists like Walter Huss (future chair of the OR GOP) embraced it as a way to mainstream their radicalism.

Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."

No, America's rising anti-Semitism is not an online illusion created by foreign-run social media accounts on X. I wrote about how this comforting fiction is contradicted by real world events and survey data. Foreigners can fan the flames, but they didn't start the fire. We did. Gift link:

DOGE was not a money-saving effort. It was an effort to chase down and prove right-wing conspiracy theories. They went after USAID to prove conspiracy theories about foreign aid. Then they went after SSA to, again, pursue conspiracy theories about Dems paying "illegals" to vote. 1/2
All DOGE accomplished was purging critical government staff, handing private data to outsiders, and sentencing thousands in developing countries to death by gutting USAID.

I don’t say this lightly: if there were any justice in this world, the people responsible for this devastation would be in jail
DOGE 'doesn't exist' with eight months left on its charter
U.S. President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency has disbanded with eight months left to its mandate.

Just another reminder that the primary problem with Seattle law enforcement is that the officers they hire (usually not residents) have a deep and abiding contempt for the city’s residents fed by a steady Fox News diet. And their union chief embodies that.
Mike Solan, SPD guild president, issued a statement openly questioning the validity of the votes for Katie Wilson.

Solan's embrace of the far right & SPD's history of aggression could make a dangerous situation if the national guard is sent to #Seattle.
